i'm planning a two-night stay, busing up from chiang mai this weekend. i've never been before, though i used to live in chiang mai.

i don't mind backpacker digs if they're nice, since i'm keen to meet people.

budget 500thb/night or so. AC and ensuite a must. preferably central. pool would be a big bonus.

thanks everyone :)

Orchids Guesthouse on Jed Yod Road is popular, a friend stayed there last week and he's a regular.

Agree....Orchids is a very convenient location, nice folks, decent clean rooms with good bathroom/shower etc.

Right off of Jed Yod road near Peace House.  400 baht low season 500 high season.

I have always advised my friends and other visitors to use Baan Bua. It has a nice garden, a very nice owner and good staff and  it is another 100 m in from Yet Yod so it is also more quiet. You find it just behind Orchids.
