KALASIN: -- As tropical storm Sonca continued to bring heavy rains and floods to various areas of Kalasin on Thursday, Tha Lamduan Prachabumrung School in Muang district suspended classes for two days after an 80-year-old Pradu tree fell onto the school building on Wednesday.

The tree fell amid rainfall at 1pm and also damaged local administrator Thong-in Marasiri's pickup truck. No casualties were reported.

Provincial governor Suwit Khamdee had officials remove the 15-tonne tree and repair two damaged classrooms and torn-down electrical wires.

School director Adul Phupakdee said the pupils were terrified by what happened and the school would suspend classes for Thursday and Friday.

Another tree fell on Wednesday due to the weather conditions. A 40-year-old Siamese Rosewood fell onto a concrete fence of Kud Or Suksawat Wittaya School in Muang district. No injuries were reported.

They've obviously been paying attention in their How to Point class. Well done. A gold star to them all.
