The workers are arrested, their employers are left comfortably undisturbed, same as it ever was.

Same as in any other country.  the powerful are untouched.  The President brags about groping his employees but if a janitor leers at a secretary he is fired.

People drink beer in Thailand?  you amaze me.    Next you'll be telling us that bars and the like are not permitted.

Strange how Thai whisky is never mentioned, as the 'karaoke'  bars seem well populated.

In another story today the government has announce a "SIN" tax/excise/duty on alcohol to raise more tax revenue. So the more booze sold the more money the government makes.

Surely these girls are only trying to promote the sale of beer in an effort to try and increase the tax revenue for the government while at the same time helping the older poor.

And the thanks they get from the government for trying to help make this extra money is they get thrown in the slammer. Weird!

Just go talk to 'her'! A husky voice and OTT head thrown back giggle before then looking (back) to your pocket(s) will soon tell you!!:wai:

Unbelievably misguided policy. The goons in charge are focusing their efforts in all the wrong areas. They appear to be wanting to create their own brand of the House of Saud moral police force. They are trying to make Thailand a Quaker State. A land of purity. Total BS. Nonsense. Misplaced priorities, and wasted efforts. What they are doing does not affect people's behavior one iota. They have no understanding of human nature. They are reading from an outdated playbook. They should be focusing their efforts on traffic and public safety, easing import tariffs, making visa policy simpler, and more friendly, boosting Western tourism, real crackdowns on slavery, and illegal fishing instead of nonsensical hyperbole, cleaning up the water, the air, the rivers, and the beaches, and other things that actually improve lives.

Little P. and the barren and sterile minds at the top. Not making Thailand great again. And moving the nation backwards at an astonishing and alarming pace.

People can dress how they want on FB... if it's not explicit the "unhappy"cops should go ply their conservative misery elsewhere.

Solution:

Warning!

Do not come here and drink before 9PM. The beer will be half price,

which could lead you to drink more beer than is good for you.

I really don't understand the "logic" (oh...well...) behind this!

When I am in a place, where I see these "beverage consultants", I have already decided (at least in 80% of all cases), that I want to consume alcohol in some form. I am in A PUB (a bar, a restaurants...)!

It's not that anyone ever walked into one of these places in order to have a glass of warm milk or an orange- juice and decides -facing a lovely lady in a tight dress- that he'd/ she'd rather have a beer, now!

So what are these retards arresting them for?

(No offense to actual retards intended!)

Did you not read the story ?

The arrested girls were inviting people to the bar to have a drink , the people were not already in the bar .

These beer girls also encourage you to drink more, by constantly filling your glass up

Pretties face fines over Facebook Live post

By The Nation

Three female presenters or “pretties” at a restaurant in Saraburi’s Muang district have been arrested for appearing in revealing cosplay dresses on a Facebook Live post promoting a “buy 1 get 1” beer promotion.

The three women in their 20s, who were arrested overnight on July 31 and were taken to the Muang Saraburi precinct, were identified as Janjira Jansakha, Nanthida Punyamanoch, and Nantharika Pheukkliang.

The trio who appeared in the live 4.39-minute post were charged with violating the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act 2008, which prohibits people to publicly encouraging alcohol consumption.

One of them said on the post: “There’s a beer promotion of buy 1 get 1 free for purchases before 9pm.”

Police last month launched an operation to monitor Thai social media to punish any actors, “net idols”, or celebrities who pose messages and pictures inviting others to drink alcohol.

Under the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act, police can punish first-time offenders with a Bt50,000 fine and repeat offenders with a Bt200,000 fine. Those providing information leading to an arrest would get one-fourth of the fine money as a reward, according to national police chief adviser Pol General Weerachai Songmetta.

Several Thai celebrities who have posed with alcoholic drinks are currently being investigated.

It is either the amount the police received is not right or the boss is not in good terms with the police. Period!

So if every waitress in Thailand asks if you want another beer, they can all be arrested for selling beer?  That is their job!

A menu with photos sells beer.

Many neon signs in and outside bars sell beer.

What's next?  A dry country?

Any pics of the jugs?

"And these three drunken maidens,
They pushed their jugs about!"

Anybody know that one? :sleepy:

My tongue was firmly in my cheek when I wrote that. But yes, you are right; they were simply trying to help defend Thailand from invaders and assist the needy.

Seems like nobody outside Prayut's cosy club can do anything right these days.

And so you should, the BIB are working tirelessly ensuring we are fully protected for girls shaking their bits and those endeavouring to ply you with alcohol - - so, please be grateful for the massive effort they are putting in on your behalf.

This country is becoming ridiculous ! This means that every time I invite a friend for a beer I am breaking the law ? Years ago many people used to come here solely because there were no silly laws, but now many of these people are moving to Cambodia, for good reason !

What is the top cop's reaction who is allegedly paid Bt. 50,000 a month for what I would imagine is protecting the brewery's interests? It would seem a conflict of interests both ways.

Dont worry, it may technically be against the law, but no action will be taken .

Be at ease and continue inviting your friends around without fear
