I have had occasional pain in my right elbow for at least ten years. It is not the joint so much as the muscles below the elbow but right near the joint. It was usually brought on by chopping motions, like cutting bamboo with a machete. It always went away after a few weeks. But now it is sticking around, making even picking up a coffee cup give me a twinge. And lately my left arm has begun do do the same thing.

Moving my arm is not really painful, just when I am grasping something or hitting something.

Interested in what sort of over the counter medication someone would suggest. I am sure it is mostly just inflammation.

Maybe you just need a cream and hot and cold packs for a while?
celebrex is one tablet you could try. Make sure you google it and read the label.

Anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) may help but whether you want to take them long term is another matter. Can cause gastric upset and contrainidicated if you are on anticoagulants, aspirin or have history of bleeding disorders. Also can cause kidney damage if taken in high doses and/or long term. Taken just occasionally if you have no contraindication should be OK.

I have the exact same problem now, in my case it has been about 2 months and I just ordered an elbow brace from Amazon, you might like to do the same.

This is a good overview of the different causes of elbow pain

I have OA.  Esp in my wrists. Recently I have been using a lotion with cannabis oil. Unbelievable results.  Just after a few once daily applications. Smells like normal lotion and packaged very professionaly.  I'm in the SF Bay area now so can find it practically everywhere.
