A Spanish tourist has gone online to issue a dire warning to the Thais about messing up their country

I think he does make a valid point as his country has already suffered from the overblown tourism and all its negative effects, and he is just warning Thailand not to get in the same state. Just because Spain is not perfect doesn't make his observations about Thailand any less valuable.

In fact, it can be argued that having seen the same things happening back home makes his observations even more valuable.

You are starting to enlighten yourself.  Awareness and education at home was the point of posting the photo of the gentleman's own homeland issues.  Schooling you on general social etiquette was an unforeseen benefit.

Way too cryptic.  Just looked like a picture of someone else's rubbish to me  so thanks for the free education.  Only 65 million to go....

What part do you need help with?

Lao Kao? Black Label? BIB? Sorry you don't understand.

Too cryptic for you.  That is probably often the case.  A picture is worth a thousand words.  Your words are worth nothing.  You are welcome for the education.  Continue on your own.  "You have a long way to go and a short time to get there".  Here's another mind bender for you child.

I lasted 33 years in Thailand and finally just had enough of the filthy Pattaya sewer they call a beach, garbage all over the streets and nobody picks it up. I have moved to the Philippines where other than Manila the country is clean and beautiful. A school full of kids walked by my house the other day and my wife told me they were cruising their jurisdiction area picking up whatever garbage they could find, and I can tell you there was not much to pick up. The authorities teach pride in your city and country from when the kids are just small.

Well, you are lucky, my little slice of paradise in the Philippines is not quite that good yet, but credit where due, they are trying and I am with one of the groups as a volunteer trying to get them to stop chucking plastic everywhere.

Maybe if the Thai soapies made fun of litters and ridiculed them on social media the brain dead people watching these shows may get the point?

he doesn't need to go home and his little complaints won't bother anyone. if he wants to clean up anywhere perhaps he could start with all the north Africans selling fake polo shirts and pissing on the beach in his own country. good place to start

Thank you.  took the words "out of my mouth."

and to the Spaniard in case you read this. your dress sense is terrible. your sunglasses are cheap and tacky, your top looks incredibly camp. perhaps that's your thing. people here don't need advice from anyone that comes from a place that hasn't got it's own house in order

Your needless, viscous ranting against a young man who cares is well noted. At least he's doing something about it, which is probably more than what you could ever do or say...

Many of my mates that come to Thailand have also noticed the downward decline and said that this might be the last time they come here.

Thailand doesnt need self righteous expats who condemn a mans clothing or where he is from as I am sure he knows it.

What it needs is people with the guts, Thai and Expat to say it like it is..... How else do things change?

This guy came on Holiday to get away from Spain, to a place he thought is great and as a first timer here, was confronted with the reality of Thailand, which may differ from the brochures and other advertising material he "may" have read.

Kudos to the guy for saying what he did and I hope more begin to post publicly, the state of Thailand, because as expats we may not notice it that much, but Thai people are losing an asset and their future due to incessant governmental talk with inaction and also the uncontrollable stupidity that some of their fellow Thai people show towards the law and common decency!

But it is "the pot calling  the kettle black"  big time.  "self righteous expats"  love it thanks man... :cheesy:

ok fine. my spelling and grammar isn't perfect. I'm not an English teacher so it doesn't matter ; )

There are a couple of organized groups that do regular beach clean ups.  As well as a scuba group cleaning and restoring coral beds.  I think we're fighting a losing battle though as the majority of people are worse than animals.  Animals pollute less.

The young man is right of course but nobody here cares, and saying it in English is a waste of time. Not that anyone would listen or care if he was speaking in Thai either. Just find a cleaner country to visit and enjoy.

No you're correct.  I was pointing out the guy you quoted.

No. Just some decent clobber! Looks like a Spanish tourist junkie that should go to bed

I think people who try to dismiss a serious message just because your not happy with his sense of fashion or the way he talks , should think again. there's actually a few videos like that on youtube, if anyone cares to search for it.

Many people still believe that thai beaches have anything in common with the famous " the beach" a.k.a Maya beach  and get quite frustrated to see that one of earth's last paradise is treated like a landfill.

If you believe that it's not your problem that don't talk sh* either.

Yes Europe has done all the mistakes and we have effectively destroyed most of nature and driven a vast majority of our original fauna into extinction. If you are not worried about this, than keep your bitter nonsense to your selves. I also believe that something has to be done, not just in Thailand

He doesn't understand 'Thainess' it's not littering it's creating jobs for his fellow Thais. Farang no understand Thais.

I pick up trash on the beach or street in Thailand regularly.  Do you?

stop moaning. there is a plan in place to clean up the coastal areas, all areas actually. he can take his message back home as far as I am concerned. there is no bitterness.

where is he going to through that cigarette butt  ????

his chick looks tasty

yes I do, but that again isn't the point. awareness is the point. everybody is qualified to comment on the quality of the beaches, be it a long or a short time visitor.

oh what a relief, there is a plan in place, and now that people know that pm2,5 kills theres a plan for that too

he has no right to break the law by taking drugs, sitting on his back side and moaning about his surroundings. there's a place called spain where he can do that
