Seven arrested in raid on endangered species' restaurant in downtown Bangkok BANGKOK: -- A contingent of 20 police led by 191 chief Surachet Hakpan and wildlife protection authorities raided a Chinese restaurant in Bangkok yesterday. Upstairs they found endangered snake species and creatures in jars that Chinese people like to eat for various imagined health benefits. And more yummy cobras in other parts of the restaurant were found on the second and third floors. There was even a pangolin corpse ready for slicing Out back they found several ponds containing live animals. Manager Jamoo Sae-yee, 66, from Chiang Rai and six Burmese workers were taken to the Wang Thong Lan police station for questioning, said Bangkok Biz News. Golden Triangle Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 I hope the owners & the customers go away for a long long time, they need too if Thailand wants the world to believe that they are clamping down heavily on the trade in endangered species, Pangolin & Asiatic Turtles ?? What is wrong with these people.

webfact Posted August 10, 2017 Author Posted August 10, 2017 Bangkok snake restaurant raided, owner charged By The Nation Snake is off the menu at a Bangkok restaurant after a mass raid on Wednesday night sparked by complaints that wildlife was being consumed there. A 20-strong team of police officers and officials from the National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department’s “Wild Hawk” task force stormed the restaurant – Luang Toto on Srivara Road in Wang Thong Lang district – in time to find two plates of chopped snake freshly served to diners’ tables. Snake meat in nine large jars was also in plain view, soaked in alcohol and fermented in spices. Two live rat snakes, a live yellow-headed temple turtle, 21 live snapping turtles, a pangolin carcass and 90 grams of pangolin scales were also seized. The live turtles and snakes were kept in concrete ponds behind the restaurant. Restaurant owner Jamu Saeyee, 66, a native of Mae Fa Luang in Chiang Rai, was arrested and charged with violating the Wild Animal Reservation and Protection Act 1992. If convicted, he faces four years in prison and/or a Bt40,000 in fine, Wild Hawk leader Thiradech Palasuwan said. The restaurant had been raided on January 6 and shut down after a single turtle was found. Luang Toto soon after resumed operations, prompting authorities to mount another raid. Jamu told police he’d operated the restaurant for seven or eight years and it was popular among Chinese and others seeking “exotic” cuisine. Tourist Police deputy commander Pol Colonel Achayon Kraithong said the wildlife had been kept illegally and slaughtered for the consumption of foreigners. The restaurant claimed the meat contained medicinal properties and would boost consumers’ stamina and energy, he said. Police are checking on the legal status of 16 Myanmar nationals working at the restaurant and would try and determine the sources of the animals. AhFarangJa Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 If it walks, swims, flies, or farts, the Chinese will eat it........
Lupatria Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 After killing all Asian and most African rhinos, along with many other species under wildlife protection for Traditional Chinese Medicine, there is only way to stop the Chinese consumption. When zoos start butchering their pandas for Traditional Western BBQ.

If you tell them an increased level of iron in their blood is a remedy for erectile dysfunction, they start to cut their bicycles, and bridges into bite-size pieces...

Upcountry near Nakorn Nowhere 20 years ago, an old Farang told me "you'll soon learn that in Thailand..." Eat everything that fly’s - but don't eat an airplane. Eat everything with legs - but don't eat a chair. If you can neither eat it or sell it - why bother with it! If you want to understand why something happens here in Thailand - follow the money There was so much truth in his words, I considered latter having them turned into a tattoo! Down in South Thailand, I tried a local village specialty of fresh Cobra blood mixed with Lao Khao. The preparation was a sight to behold... The locals fished a very pissed of cobra out of a sack, then proceeded to tie it to a tree, stretch it, then beat the crap out of it with a stick... finally, it was slit open and the blood drained into a cup(there's not much) prior to making the yaa-dong. Apparently, the pre-death torture of the serpent was believed to add a certain 'je ne sais quoi' to the brew. Either way, it was definitely a fiery drink
jobwolf Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 He is charged for selling wild animals for consumption to foreigners. Does this make it more illegal??
