spetersen Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 I just wanted to activate my SCB Debit card for online transactions/internet purchase etc. The bank's web page are asking me for information (check the link below), what is odd is that they asking me for my ATM Pin code ,I have never got that question like that from any bank in the world , anyone on TV have any experience of this with SCB ? https://vbv.scb.co.th/debit/activate/EnrollStep1
Langsuan Man Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Why do you think it is odd ? The web site shows : https: which indicates that it is secure. If you went into a branch to activate the card, then they would point you to a PIN machine and you would input your pin into the machine in front of the customer service representative, they would never ask you to "verbalize" it Seems to me that since there is no other record of your PIN number SCB, is doing the only thing possible to verify you are who you say you are, online
dfdgfdfdgs Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 I've been through this process and did the PIN thing the same as you describe. That was months ago and no issues since. I'm from the UK and it's always drummed into you never to type your pin anywhere on the internet or tell it to anybody on a phonecall. Seems Thailand is different. Also the SCB pin is 6 digits, I'm used to 4-digit pins.

Now when getting a new card or new account you have to use a 6 digit pin. SCB wouldn't let me use a 4 digit pin (about 1 year ago).
bberrythailand Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 So all new SCB cards use 6 digits ? At BKK bank it seems that only the Chinese connected cards :-) use 6 digits, visa still 4.

Just got mine two months ago, my pin is four digits, chose it myself.
