No matter how much the bitter and angry farangs want Thailand to fall flat on its face, it just isn't going to happen.

Sorry.

Most probably pay a Thai a salary just to live with them. #bitterpilltoswallow

Does that mean you are envious of the nice Thai ladies who live with farangs because they get treated much better and do not get beaten up by drunk no brain husbands yes that must be a bitter pill to swallow for some.

I'm sorry. I've no idea what you mean or are trying to articulate.

I do know that while the TAT give us a rosy picture every month with their facts and figures about the numbers of visiting tourists (that amazingly NEVER go down!), the fact is that I have never seen the streets and bars so deserted, and every bar owner and restaurant owner that I know says the same thing. Of course it may be that all the tourists are travelling to the likes of Esan or the Northern provinces to discover the real Thailand! :cheesy:

We are all going a bit off topic guys but what I see on Samui now is cheapskate Russians, Chinese and other Asians with not so many big spending Europeans and Americans. Lots of cheapskates at markets, in 7-11s, supermarkets and on motorbikes not so much in restaurants or in car rentals. As a consequence we are likely to see more road accidents, with the poor quality tourists there are with some pretty poor road skills and a huge lack of common sense to be honest.

I do not understand why the German Embassy in Bangkok can not ask some simple questions about this case.

Possibly because they have little or no interest in the welfare of German nationals?

Well yes but i doubt that they can speak down to you in quite the manner that the public servants working in the British Embassy do to the UK citizens they are supposed to be working for, on a daily basis.

I wanted to 'like' this post a hundred, no possibly a thousand times or more. My apologies the website wouldn't let me do it.

Sorry, and I may be in the minority here, but any dealings I have had with the British Embassy in Bangkok have always gone smoothly, and I have always found them extremely helpful.

My main complaint is the amount of money that they charge for their services, and that isn't really their fault - it's the British Government who decided that the Embassy should be self funding. Also the opening hours for the Consular Section should be extended to be more in line with standard office working hours, but there again it's probably down to financial constraints.

If dealing with you directly they may be fine if you can get hold of them. If you are a family member seeking assistance they are worse than <deleted> useless.

My, you do seem to have trouble communicating with people don't you? First of all the Dog and Cat Rescue Centre and now the British Embassy? Maybe your <deleted> language rubs people up the wrong way?

I concur.

When my wife passed away, the staff at the embassy were very helpful and efficient in the processes that were required by them.

I wouldn't say so, I perfectly understand 'we can't help'.

It wasn't me that contacted the British Embassy in Bangkok, it was a family member and they were appalled by the treatment they received.

Spend all your time on here baiting members do you?

I cannot understand why people think their embassy is either a police station, the Ombudsman or social services. The do no work for UK citizens directly. They work for the UK government and their primary role is communication between governments, promotion of UK trade relations, and the like.

Sure they ,used to, issue passports but that has now been outsourced.

I'm sure if any question put to them is concise and within their mandate they would be more than helpful, Births, deaths and marriages sort of thing.

But lets not forget that many of the employees are local hire!

No, I just find it a bit annoying that quite a few of your posts contain the word "<deleted>"  implying that you would rather be using expletives than proper English.((In fact, your last 2 posts).

My old school teacher used to say that swearing all the time only shows a lack of knowledge of sufficient adjectives to emphasise your point - I think  HE had a point!

A point that I have made before is that they work for the British Government, and as such they are employed by them. Consequently I believe that the cost of the Embassy providing the services that you mention above should be paid for by the British Government
