Is a booking email enough for Air Asia/Nok Air?

I haven't used these carriers in a while; is it fine to pull up my email booking confirmation on my phone, or is it better to take a printout? I don't have a printer but can go to a copy place if needed.

On a related question, do you need to show the credit card a ticket was booked on if one was used - remember having to do this on Thai a few years back. Just interested in what would happen where the credit card is 'virtual'.

Just did four separate NokAir bookings for wife and 3 others going to junior swim meets in BKK and CR. Notes on the booking emphasized need for credit card, I paid by bank direct payments (4 such) so no way to show proof. Wife called NokAir and they said mai pen rai. Have been flying all the local airlines and several international for the past 15 year and never, ever had to show credit card.

In the end it seems sufficient to hand over my passport at the Thaismile check-in counter.

I usually have the SMS and email on the phone but I doubt they ever look at.

I always pay with a virtual debit card and never been questioned about that.

Just guess that is any different with AirAsia and Nok.

Usually only happens when ticket has been paid for by a 3rd party, not travelling together.

That's exactly all I did when we flew to Krabi last week and back on Monday evening.

I have always taken a printout but as Khun Benq says it is never asked for. Just give them your passport (or ID card for wife) and it is all on computer. As others have said, never been asked for the CC.

Just take your phone + some ID. That's all you need.

Evertime I book and pay for a flight back home (different airlines) it tells me to print out the ticket for presentation at the check in.

For the sake of about 3 baht, why take a chance on meeting an operator in a cranky and defiant mood on the day?

I was asked by Thai for sight of my cc for a domestic flight two or three years ago, but that was because it was for a booking made within a day or two of the flight. I had to argue like crazy to get on the flight and a supervisor only agreed then as I was a Gold member.

Rules may have changed since then. Or as is so often the case in Thailand, they apply the rules when they want to.

We just wander up to counter show ID cards and they print out boarding cards. Thats all thats needed. Re credit card never been asked. Always book flights with ny credit card.

Fly nearly monthly on AirAsia and never been asked for credit card. Use Thai. Drivers license for I.d., though one woman insisted on a passport. Good to have the booking number with you.....had one woman get pretty irate because I didn't know it......but it was actually more about her being to lazy to look up my reservation. She said it didn't exist, but I insisted she keep looking....of course she then found it.

I think the showing the credit card at check is required if the travelling passenger IS NOT the same name as the credit card used. I booked flights for my thai step- daughter using my credit card with Bangkok airlines ...and the step daughter was refused check in without the credit card. I tend to remember also that the booking was only made on -line 2 days before the flight also............

I usually book mine and my girlfriends tickets with Thai smile using a credit card and neither of us have been asked for anything other than ID even when we travel separately.

Mrs had to go to BKK two days ago sudden buisness l. Needed to fky into don mueang

Booked her on Thai lion air was about to pay by my credit card when i read that they do random checks on credit card used (yes she has credit cards but was not at home at time of booking). So quickly popped over to ATM and paid it through that.

Took her to airport wednesday for flight. Whilst she was queing for checking in suitcase 3 people were turned away for not having booking credit card with them.

Majority of my domestic flights are booked using a company credit card. All i do is turn up at the check-in and hand over my passport and get my aisle seat and boarding pass. I do have the inventory on my phone and if possible I try to get a printout but never been asked. The only time I can see that you would need that is if their system was down and they had reverted to manual for check-ins.

Not so sure about international flights though.

Update on thai lion air. Mrs on in flight now back to KKC. 3 pasengers refused boarding as they didnt have credit card used to book. Only Thai domestic i have heard of looking for cards at check in. Travelled with all the rest including international and we have never been asked for booking card.

Will put lion air on no thank you list.

Happened to me on Air Asia too. Thai Lion isn't the exception, so no need to 'boycott' them.
