Krabi residents warned of flash floods, mudslide

By The Nation

The Krabi provincial administration on Saturday warned residents of the southern province of heavy downpours that may trigger flash floods and mudslides.

Deputy Krabi Governor Nom Kongphun said heavy rains could hit the province from Saturday to Sunday.

People living in low-lying areas and on hillsides should watch out for possible flash flooding and mudslides during the period, the warning said. The people are also advised to monitor announcements from the authorities on an around the clock basis.

Is this a warning of something out of the ordinary, or a "cover my ass" statement? When I stayed on Railay during the rainy season the "normal" rainfall was spectacular in it's ferocity.
