Canterbury Tales has been around for a long time. They moved location last year from Soi Pothole to a fair way down Soi Bongkot.

90% Thai employees seek new jobs despite bleak economy
topt replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
But combine those 2 somehow and you get a headline of 90% seeking a new job........right........ -
Thanks for bringing that to people's attention. As far as I know no reason not to mention The Bangkok Post but yes you cannot link to it. Interestingly in their article they mention that the agreement, or one of them, still has to be ratified by Parliament....... And this particular article is almost completely referencing companies and not individuals until the last para that only talks about US individuals. So lot of potential details missing........

Correct. I picked up a printer from there earlier this year. It is set back slightly on the pavement and there is a hotel or similar with a drive in on the left as you look at it which I was able to turn into and park next to the side of the Advice shop. From the street it is not obvious until it is........

Deposit interest rate paid in Thai banks
topt replied to ezzra's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Remember if in a "normal" Thai fixed account you can take it out usually at any time with just a loss of some interest. However I have not looked and the fixes referred to may be more like fixed accounts in the UK where you cannot remove before due time. Perhaps @hughrection would comment? -
Presumably you have checked that the test result from a Thai test house is acceptable for the UK? The only reason I mention it is I had to organise for 2 dogs to go to Italy about 6 years ago and the blood test had to be done by an accredited European test house - which added some stress/cost due to timings. As another poster mentioned UK probably has different requirements. I used these people to organise and you may wish to try them for a quote. They were very helpful with the Thai export permit part but if you have a Thai speaker you can do it yourself. They responded fairly promptly to emails at the time. Dynamic Air Cargo Co.,Ltd. Thanks for pointing that out. Been looking for a free way to watch that on my laptop. I had been resigned to carrying on with Sophon cable.

Earlier news report suggests that won't be any time soon. https://aseannow.com/topic/1296725-pattaya-deputy-mayor-inspects-construction-project-on-beach-road-amidst-resident-and-tourist-complaints/

I heard adverts last couple of days on 103FM for Hilton buffets. Weekdays 650 or 700 from memory (except Friday was more expensive) and I thought they said 1,450 or 1500 for weekend but @mstevensabove has had recent experience. Annoying that there seems to be no web page details - maybe on faceache perhaps.

The demise of the village ATM.
topt replied to Crossy's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
You are using US cards I believe from a later post? My UK cards have not been that generous for a decade. If I use my UK cards it costs me money - circa 2.5% foreign transaction fee...... Caddie fees at many golf courses have to be paid in cash even if you pay the rest on a card - no cash no play Try tipping a caddie with a credit card............ That's just off the top of my head -

The demise of the village ATM.
topt replied to Crossy's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
In Pattaya SCB removed quite a few ATMs from 7/11s some years ago (more than 5) but overall still loads of ATMs around if you are vaguely central as you would expect in a city. Unfortunately however I see the removal probably increasing but just hope it does not get as bad as the UK. Although I read that they are finally starting to try and make sure cash is available - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12130283/Free-ATMs-enshrined-law-following-concerns-bank-branch-closures.html Personally I use cash for most things here but was an avowed cc user in the UK - mainly for the cash back........ -
Students Fatally Stab Each Other at Sisaket Province School
topt replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Students/Children were aged from 11 to 18. Not sure what else you would call large areas of tarmac/concrete with them playing ball games of various sorts and generally running around? -

Senior school in the 70's where I was there were definitely playground monitors - usually 6th form prefects. -
Seems to be a left hand/right hand thing. Just received today a tax return with the notes and my details printed on the front which suggests they are still sending them out................. Too late however as my completed return was received by HMRC last week. Using EMS tracked took 12 days in total and cost me 290 baht.

Is the right answer. Thank you............... -
Apparently these are not being sent out automatically anymore - according to the person I spoke to when I ordered mine. They only took 2-3 weeks to arrive.

In his previous post he quoted a poster but the post was made in 2011..........

The first date you start the plan. I received an electronic copy of my Certificate when I started the plan in 2021 and on renewal in 2022 there was no new certificate issued. I also queried this initially with AA. Yes - to me that is fairly clear in the Ts and Cs They give this definition but yes open to interpretation My concern is as mentioned by another member an arbitrary increase applied, larger than expected, for over a certain age - from memory 65 but I will check........

You need to leave instructions with a trusted person/persons about who to contact - and ideally in your personal papers. The will template I used for the UK had it written in that the executor could pay for help required and that cost would come out of the estate.
