topt replied to up2you2's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
As it is Android did he set up his google account and backup with it or possibly to Xiaomi Mi Cloud? Not sure how he would then transfer it to an iPhone however.... Sim should still have his saved contacts -
Do You Trust The Security Of Your Andriod Smart Phone?
topt replied to connda's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
So tell me what they would be then please. My UK financial institutions still seem to use OTP's for access and a version of it for transactions in some cases. I don't disagree that it has issues but appears to still be used. -

Please define "proper" - if I try and set up a new payee online with SCB I have to authenticate via OTP for which I need my phone? -

Specifically for my phone banking app - in my head. Otherwise generally somewhat similarly to as @KhunBENQ stated. PS - I am not pro app. Most of my banking is done online with a pc. I don't use apps for my home country banking and only started recently in Thailand for ease of paying utility bills as most, for me, cannot be paid online. -

No it wasn't - your point that is. I specifically replied to your point about clicking on an icon only with no other input to access. Anyway good luck to a casual thief stealing my phone and being able to crack the 6 digits before I have disabled access. -

Not the case with SCB app. You have to put in a 6 digit passcode, or possibly use another form of id., before you can get into anything to do with money. -
Yes worth a read. However I was curious that it mentions a specific government document warning about the issue in 1992 but then jumps to 2020 for the next reference. I know the Thai's like to sleep ..............

Certainly correct (private only) for the Pattaya one. In fact I was told by the broker I use that all the main Pattaya and close environs private hospitals only have private rooms which is an issue with quite a few insurance companies basic cover.

Used to be used for parking many of the coaches that infested Pattaya before Covid.......... So if/when they are back that's potentially more parking issues.

Bali’s Sex Ban Outside Marriage Won’t Affect Tourism Officials Say
topt replied to webfact's topic in World News
It is not mentioned in the report but in the original news items I read does the law not say something about can only be reported by a parent or similar? Yes here is one quote - https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-12-06/indonesia-bans-cohabitation-between-unmarried-couples/101739410 So if not officially divorced and going away with a new romantic interest and the other partner is aware (and bears a grudge) they could presumably cause you a world of pain...... -

Sorry but are you being deliberately obtuse? Ever been to Pattaya and seen the written exchange rates on hand drawn cards in an exchange booths windows because I have. Even SCB today in the previous link I showed had only 3 changes and yesterday had 4. I never mentioned a "constant rate throughout the day" ............ I'm out.
-
I think you may have missed the point of what I was saying. It is not difficult to get a rough idea because, as I think I already mentioned, unless particularly volatile, they never used to change their rates as often as you are suggesting. A couple of web searches/phone calls and you would know enough.

Did you read this thread - or this one - https://aseannow.com/topic/1277117-surf-shark-vpn/

Sorry but I disagree re finding a higher paying exchange booth. Certainly years ago when I used to use them TT and one or 2 others gave a consistently better rate than other exchanges - and you could negotiate with them. They do not change their rates (or never used to) as often as the spot rate or even the banks, so finding a consistently higher paying booth still makes sense IMHO. I would suggest better to look at a banks web site to see a realistic exchange rate and then venturing out to compare at the booths. If nothing else you will feel better at getting a higher rate! SCBs as an example - https://www.scb.co.th/en/personal-banking/foreign-exchange-rates.html Unusually when I looked still quoting rates posted at 08.35am...... All be it that unless changing more than a few thousand the difference is unlikely to make much difference.

Yes if they are system apps........... Suggest you go to a site like the XDA forums and look up your phone and see which apps people have successfully deleted and how. Xiaomi tend to be full of so called bloatware and I ended up rooting my Redmi Note 8 to remove most of it.

Do you know that AIS don't/won't also? I and another friend seemingly have been having issues with the True download speeds especially recently.

My mate got done in Hua Hin about 4 years ago and had to go to the police station to pay. We weren't aware of the law then. -
The only thing I could find after a very quick search was on the BofE web site initially from last year - https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/news/2021/april/bank-of-england-statement-on-central-bank-digital-currency And then this from earlier this year - https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/paper/2022/responses-to-the-bank-of-englands-discussion-paper-on-new-forms-of-digital-money

Bikes not allowed on the 7

If you mean the overhead gantry ones they appear to be directed at the max speed for specific types of vehicles. Often there are flashing 90 signs on the side/middle of the 7 which just seem to get ignored. There are also 90 signs inside a red circle now on the stretch from the tollbooths at Pattaya to the newish Maptahut junction.
