UK State Pension Forecast - Reliable?
topt replied to Upnotover's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
Agreed, seems to be a conundrum. This article clearly states you need 35 years for the "new" full state pension amount - https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/pensions/article-11680503/Delaying-state-pension-Steve-Webbs-five-golden-rules.html?ico=mol_desktop_money-newtab&molReferrerUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailymail.co.uk%2Fmoney%2Findex.html I may post it as a separate topic as potentially useful to those considering deferring - however it does not cover the issue of frozen pensions and deferring....... -
UK State Pension Forecast - Reliable?

Yes I was thinking that but the "forecast" figure should show that he needs 2 more years to make the full pension shown - or that is how I remember it. -
UK State Pension Forecast - Reliable?

That seems strange as my understanding is you need 35 years for the new full pension. You haven't got any SERPS or similar in that total by any chance? Have you been through and actually counted up the full years they have given you as it would not surprise me that one or other is wrong - they have had a lot of issues last couple of years with this. It may be worth giving them a call to check as long as you don't mind a long wait to be answered -
It may take a while for that to happen. I think current estimates are in excess of 16 weeks for payments to be allocated - but he may be lucky........ https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/pensions/article-14519849/Pensioner-patient-wait-state-pension-payment.html My payment in May last year was not credited until December and I believe only because I filed an online complaint - but I had been paying for quite a few years so was not a new isolated payment which made the delay even more nonsensical until you factor in the no. of increased submissions due to the changes they made. OP there are some other threads in this specific forum which may be worthwhile reading.

If you know this, presuming you have been here a while, you take the necessary steps to avoid it. It is not rocket science and unless you have to go to work using a baht bus/bike or similar it is avoidable with a little forethought. And for the avoidance of any doubt I also don't participate and try to stay well clear even avoiding coming in to Soi Buakhow last night to pick up a Sunday roast.....

This coming from someone who implied they would put someone in hospital if they got sprayed - very mature.........

Where did you understand that from? So because someone squirts you with water you are saying you will beat them up........ or worse in your case.

Thai Tax on UK pensions
topt replied to Humpy's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Not to the Thai RD which is what's relevant to what is being discussed. -
yep. Loads of articles over the years up to this year (which is the one I remembered seeing recently) 2008 - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-524838/Cars-trapped-illegal-driveways-council-fits-bollards-middle-night.html 2018 - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6072897/Council-tells-homeowners-theyre-breaking-law-not-having-right-kind-kerb.html 2021 - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9806911/Homeowners-outraged-council-charges-215-drive-KERB-access-driveways.html 2025 - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14457361/xx.html I had similar to you in my first flat over 40 years ago but also had a bus stop almost directly outside......

Thai Tax on UK pensions
topt replied to Humpy's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
It's pretty much irrelevant to the Thai RD. Its only relevant in that you haven't paid any tax on it so in theory you have no tax to set off against a Thai tax charge if you had one from remitting that money. -
Last time I went there (which was a while ago) a pipe was disgorging waste or effluent straight into the sea visible on the beach........

very relevant in the Pattaya forum.........

Was it JSixPack who used to write, for a number of years, a very detailed and accurate primer on Songkran in Pattaya - or another poster?

My understanding (see bottom link) is that within Teams Free you can only call someone else with Teams so not a landline number. To use up any credit you would have to use the Skype web portal Dial Pad which won't be available until May and then it is not clear how long you have to use up any existing credit. From an email - note nothing about calling any other numbers - landline or mobile. This link covers most of the above including not being able to call landlines from within Teams Free - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/skype/skype-is-retiring-in-may-2025-what-you-need-to-know-2a7d2501-427f-485e-8be0-2068a9f90472

From the other thread - https://aseannow.com/topic/1353194-skype-to-be-shutdown-in-may/page/10/#comments So presume due after the 3rd or not?

UK International State Pension calculation.
topt replied to phetphet's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
Which flies in the face of the current guidance online from HMRC - https://www.gov.uk/deferring-state-pension/what-you-get However I saw another reference https://community.hmrc.gov.uk/customerforums/pt/219492f5-45f7-ee11-a81c-6045bd0daaec which suggests that left and right hand have no idea what is going on.......so who knows
