  1. Well, I have been here more than twenty years and I still haven't seen much of the old uniforms - or their contents!
  2. My local Doctor did it for free and he was able to stamp it officially as required by the covering letter I received. I am talking UK Government, February, 2023 For those who wish to state that an Official stamp of Witness is not required, I can supply Documentary proof!!
  3. Do as Sheryl suggests and go to an Ortho, get a proper diagnosis that takes account of all the the patients circumstances. I think it is not good practice to take action from speculation and guesswork here. In fact with anything that I might think of as not obvious, I will visit my local Doctor, at little expense, and he will refer me to a specialist if necessary!
  4. Something has been lost in translation The words "expected to" should read, "hoped for"
  5. I agree! These are "one-off" events. It is the general demeanour (image, presentation, law enforcement etc, etc,) of the City that needs lifting
  6. Let us base our assessment on the contributions we observe from both interesting topics submitted for discussion, together with those with equally interesting comments, from the numerous foreigners on this forum. If our considered percentage is of a similar quality of that expressed so far then it seems there is only about 5% of us, at the most, with merit enough to be thought of as being "worth talking to" Who wants to demonstrate they are in the minority?? Or will admit being in the 95% bracket?
  7. It's easy to avoid trouble in Thailand. Don't go to Pattaya!
  8. The OP doesn't say he is quitting - only that without alcohol for three weeks. I have withdrawn from alcohol (very small amount - less than equal to small beer or a glass of wine per day) on several occasions for the purpose of for example, contributing to lowering cholesterol or just for a rest! I am not sure there were differences in my level of clear thinking but within about seven weeks my goal was reached. In any event, if the OP IS trying to quit and is three weeks in, then he gets my vote for success so far!
  9. She is moody because of you. it is only my opinion, but she doesn't get your respect and in a moment of honesty she would say the same of you. "A sack of potatoes" as a description of one's partner (in public) is something to be ashamed of! This post should be private.
  10. Nuclear Bouncers should only be a deterrent! Unfortunately, their war heads are in the wrong hands! If customers are being offensive or aggressive, they only need to be restrained and then call the police. If the evidence points to drunkards delivering the first blow, the establishment can sue them for assaulting its employees! Looks like there were witnesses.
  11. Men looking for women have been coming to Thailand for many years. Some of them do no research and are happy to trust mates down the pub in their own country that the girls here are easy, beautiful and often charming - most of the "easy" ones to be found in bars. In fact these women represent less than 4% of Thai women. though for sure, there is no guarantee that many of the 96% remaining might just be lying about one being handsome! Arriving here for the first time, they are amazed that their mates were (partly) right! These men are of different age groups but they often have in common a few background characteristics that tend to make them easy prey for those women. In the beginning, the men are overwhelmed with the feeling they are wanted and cannot resist the temptations of "falling" into relationships that were impossible in their own country. It is easy to see why! Men who are not familiar with the major potential problems of a serious relationship with a bar girl, especially marrying one, will be naive at the time and later realise they were stupid. To the OP: Is Mrs. Smith aware of your deep knowledge of the bar girl scene?
  12. Not sure why Prague, my favourite City, or Lisbon, or San Francisco not on that list
  13. For me, it isn't the delivery boy that is the problem, it is the food! Just poor value. i don't bother anymore!
  14. That depends as much on you as it does about the women and another culture. If you transfer your philosophy of life that you have demonstrated on this forum, it is likely you are in for disappointment - wherever you go!
  15. Two main items on here today. I think there should be a permanent tape all around Pattaya with the message, "Crime Scene".
  16. So, to cut a long story short, you are not interested in anything new, you are even bored with the things you like, including your girlfriend. (have you told her that?). Looks like you and Bob Smith should get along fine with your mutual boredom.
  17. With my last Life Certificate from UK the covering letter stated that 16 weeks from date of that letter, until receiving the returned Life Certificate duly completed was allowed for the whole thing to be considered a done thing. I am surprised for such an important matter that no urgency is placed on postage from UK to Thailand and thus I have experienced seven weeks to receive here but I always return it with Registered post that automatically involves tracking. The Office dealing with these matters are prepared to exchange emails so why don't they send an alert message by email that a life certificate is in the post?
  18. I will be signing up tomorrow. Everything good with me including a 6 hour trial to familiarise with the system
  19. Bear with me for a few hours today. I have a couple more questions to ask of him about my devices - will get back to you. I am feeling good about his fast, friendly and informative responses so far.
  20. More than two years ago on 4 May 2021 to be exact, I posted the following about the award to my wife, Jeab. What follows would seem in England to be something of a joke. In Thailand its is quite the opposite and with great merit! "Yesterday, my wife learned that she had been awarded, “COMPANION (FOURTH CLASS) OF THE MOST EXALTED ORDER OF THE WHITE ELEPHANT “, by the King of Thailand. This follows many years of excellent service to Government and her work as Lecturer and University Director in Education in Buddhism. In turn, this followed an honoury discharge from the Thai Army (military nurse) as Master Sergeant (First Class), BA and MA (Hons) and Assistant Professorship. Oh yes, she has written three books as well. Currently she is a Government Schools Inspector, working online instead of at actual schools because of Covid-19. This woman, (nickname, Jeab) is a real lady: elegant, dignified, charming, adorable, honest, kind, generous and many other qualities I am so happy to be a large part of. Jeab has worked hard and long for her rewards and commendations and I am so proud of her and that she chose me to share it all with! Chris, a lucky husband!" I have copied and pasted this exactly how it appeared then. There will be Members who will remember this posting, but it is a reminder for them as it relates the second posting and for those seeing it for the first time. There is to be an official presentation of a framed certificate confirming the honour, in Ayuthaya. Though the certificate is signed by the King, he wont be there! And neither will I. Jeab is travelling with some friends and not room for me but my absence makes no difference to the pride I feel for her and another time in her life when she receives recognition for her 23 years as a military Nurse, a Founder Member and a Director of a Buddhist University and more recently as A Government Schools Inspector, and even more recently as an appointed Director in that work. I think most of the delay for the presentation is due to Covid 19/ I received many comical reactions relating to "White Elephants" so if you know some I haven't heard, be my guest! For those of you that believe this award is for anyone with five years Government service and are two-a-penny", allow me to explain: Her award is shown as Fourth Class in a category containing eight, where the lowest grade is for people with the minimum years of service and no other achievement. From a UK perspective she is equal to, C.H. Companion of Honour. No money involved! Why do I write on this subject at all? You know already I am proud of her and I demonstrate that there is more to some women than others. Most items on this forum as it relates to women are problem-related and often are of the 4% representing women of easy virtue. I am giving an example of the 96% vast majority, who are ordinary people, some of whom have achieved something special in their lives worthy of merit and mention. I appreciated very much the kind comments and congratulations for Jeab from my first posting and since that time, I have met many of her former and current colleagues in the Military, the nursing profession and the Higher Buddhist community and generally and most of all, her many students past and present who seem to be everywhere we go. Chris, a continuing "lucky" husband
  21. I have contacted Eric already, if it's any help I can let you know if I decided to go with it!
  22. Millions of UFO's flying oround in the sky. Are they pies or pigs?
  23. You don't have to kill, just go to a little trouble and make them yourself from many videos on YouTube with recipes of the "genuine article". Yes, they are made from processed ingredients but your health will not suffer from the odd indulgence! And don't forget the Colmans mustard! You will be telling us next, you like faggots and peas!!
