Life is all about risk. I remember Californians in the 1990s being outraged that their freedom to ride a motorcycle without a helmet was being taken away, when the law was changed. If a Thai family only has a pick-up they have no choice but to use it. Maybe more people should be blaming the drunk trunker who rear-ended them! -

I'm not sure how seriously it was tried. The current system certainly isn't working, and working together with other European countries rather than the ridiculous Little Englander attitude of the current and previous governments can only be an improvement. I do accept, however, that it isn't going to happen - not for at least 5 years when the clamour to rejoin the EU may be unstoppable. ????

My solution would be to rejoin the EU and negotiate an EU-wide quota system for refugees. Unfortunately, the spineless Labour party don't seem to agree, but I'm hoping that's just for appearances.

A few years ago now, I remember being in a few Pattaya gogo bars that got raided for non-Thai workers and underage. The only girls taken away were the non-Thais and those under 18. That's if they hadn't already escaped when the raid tip-off alarm was raised!
