  1. You should never accept the ATM conversion - that's exposing you to DCC as explained upthread. Reject the conversion and you'll get the "correct" exchange rate. You're also comparing credit card with debit card which could be using different processors with different exchange rates (probably not 120 baht different though) and don't mention the ATM fee if the transaction was completed.
  2. Should read 2026 as per the later report.
  3. Although many still call it the Tuesday/Friday market it's all pretty much open every day now. Not sure of the hours.
  4. No, your US bank does not. As per my post it's the payment processor noted on your card, which seems like Mastercard for you. The "other" rate offered at the ATM is being offered by the ATM operator and as you say is usually much lower.
  5. I think most use the services of Wise or similar and let them do the conversion. Someone else worked out that was more cost effective up to around $22K USD IIRC. SWIFT transfers better above that. If you want to time the exchange to get a higher rate you can do that by holding it in Wise, and I think you can even preset a rate where they'll convert it automatically.
  6. Where did you check it at 9am? The exchange rate is set by the payment processor - usually Visa or Mastercard - and not by the ATM operator, unless you opt for DCC as mentioned. It'll be slightly below the rate you see on XE or Wise, for example, as Visa/Mastercard take their cut.
  7. There's a couple of threads about visits to the tax office although not sure how helpful they might be, especially with regard to the specific query mentioned by The Cyclist. https://aseannow.com/topic/1318120-revenue-department-contact-reports/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1330694-a-visit-to-the-tax-office/
  8. No, or I wouldn't have asked the question. My thinking is that it doesn't matter who receives it, if it's taxable money then tax is due and if it's an attempt to evade tax then it shouldn't be asked on here.
  9. Which agent? Mine isn't due for a few months but would like to know of any potential hiccups.
  10. Only 2 banks - Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn. SCB is 1,499,999 THB and the rest 49,999 THB.
  11. What makes you think transferring it directly to the hospital via Wise will negate any tax implications (assuming you are referring to Personal Income Tax)?
  12. It depends. This webpage expains it and gives you figures to work with. https://www.airalo.com/blog/how-much-data-does-youtube-use
  13. He's not qualified to be a manager in a low-end resort from what I've read on here.
  14. Generate a dummy number and see if it works. https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/thai-citizen-id-generator/epjdfiocihakcbcndegikddpdokoanip?hl=en
  15. The wording now is explicit whereas it wasn't before and does not require it to be on the same airline. I don't think there's room for misinterpretation or different interpretations. This may well not disappear as the new wording doesn't put a time limit on the when the ticket should be for, although it does mention any extension will be for 30 days. From https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/
  16. Correction - it's towards the right if you come to the immigration hall nearest the E, F, G gates.
  17. I've not seen any reports on this, but the information to airlines was updated recently and now acknowledges extensions are possible and an onward/return ticket can be for further out than 60 days.
  18. It's a closed currency so not easy to be traded outside.
  19. Some people just look at the bottom line, not the possible consequences of their action.
  20. I don't think that'll happen. I don't know the process but Siamburi's Expat Shop in Pattaya mentioned a few days ago that The Farm Place, one of their suppliers, had got all 17 of their products through FDA approval and it's only a month or two since they (Siamburi's) were "raided" by the FDA and closed for a few days which kicked off the process. They also have at least 6 types of Cumberland Sausage still for sale which must be approved.
  21. They are open but not at the seperate Fast Track area between the two main immigration halls where they have been for years. That area is still there but not for Business Class passengers, who should go to the main ramp and will see a "Priority" sign off to one side - it's towards the left if you come to the immigration hall nearest the E, F, G gates. Go up the ramp at the sign and the queue barriers should steer you in the right direction.
  22. Before the recent changes there was a facility to mark everything as read that I used to use before signing off. I can still see the button for doing this on individual sub-forums but not the one that marked everything at once. Does it still exist and can someone point it out to me if so?
  23. It does. Enter passport # and nationality and click on the magnifying glass symbol.
  24. I pay me PEA electricity bill by Direct Debit so it does exist.
  25. It seems like Subway have turned round from that. Have you seen how many they have just shut down for not "behaving"? Orders came from the USA after Thai franchises tried to take advantage and do it "their way" and many have been shut down now. No loss IMO but some may have liked them.
