  1. Similar, but not quite the same for me. Air France recently directed me to their Thai site to purchase tickets based on my origin/location being Thailand. At the end of the process they tried to hit me with a credit card (maybe as much as 800 THB IIRC) so I changed site to the UK version. Purchased the same tickets as I had originally planned but was charged in GBP with no credit card fee and the mark up for them doing any conversion behind the scenes was about 10% of the 800 THB fee they would have charged. I don't know the intricacies of airline ticketing but that seems to me like SOTI.
  2. Sounds like you may have chosen (or were unknowingly made) to pay in GBP which leaves you at the mercy of the vendor's exchange rate rather than the Visa/Mastercard rate which would have been much better. Paying in THB will almost always give you a better exchange rate. Your bank fees are avoidable if you have a card which is free of these - Halifax Clarity is one such card, however my understanding was you didn't get hit with the fees if you were billed in GBP. Maybe some banks still use "overseas purchases" to charge fees on rather than "foreign currency transactions"?
  3. OK. I have fixed ones as "home" requires comms for security cameras and other IOT gadgets.
  4. Any particular reason you specify a "pocket" router if it's for a fixed location, and not a full spec one?
  5. Bluestacks is the one I see mentioned most often. No idea how it performs.
  6. Isn't it due on the same date every month like my UK credit cards? Shouldn't be difficult to remember.
  7. Which bank? There are reports it can't be done with BBL app.
  8. I have these details noted down although they are from some time ago: email: support (at) transferwise.com phone: +44 203 695 0999
  9. They should have put the cones up the middle of Soi Diana until just past the entrance to The Edge so it was 2 way for that first/last 10 - 15 yards. Wouldn't affect traffic much in either direction and would have saved a lot of trouble.
  10. This thread is still current and open where your claim is refuted and a method given to use your wallet contents. I agree you could have problems withdrawing it if that is your goal. https://aseannow.com/topic/1327798-lazada-refund-today/#comment-18930421
  11. Thai numbers are re-used and I have a mate in the same position with Lazada Wallet and him having a phone number registered to a previous user.
  12. Not going by this Google Streetview image looking into Soi Diana from 2nd Road.
  13. I think this may be from the old system but it's still the same IIRC. Either a pull down box or when you start typing it'll give you suggestions.
  14. No, they could have used the TPN photo as they subsequently did in the follow up report and referenced it accordingly.
  15. Further up the article it says the authorities visited the company on October 10th. The actual dates should have been May 17th and May 20th and can be seen in the original report here: https://thepattayanews.com/2024/05/19/update-pattaya-electric-scooter-rental-company-instructed-by-city-officials-to-temporarily-halt-business/
  16. Looks like the original article came from The Pattaya News and was just reworded for here and a different (inaccurate) picture used. Same paragraph structure and content throughout, just slightly modified language. Not the first time I've noticed it from an AN newsbot. https://thepattayanews.com/2024/05/17/rental-electric-scooters-pop-up-in-pattaya-raising-legal-concerns/
  17. I have and I believe it does as I fall under this definition from the UK DTA.
  18. Pay tax in another country and offset it against any potential Thai tax as per your country's DTA.
  19. No. Wise' own calculator gives you what you will actually receive after fees are deducted, as it appears XE's does too.
  20. I don't believe so from looking at the information on their app.
  21. I thought that was evident from my post (my bolding for emphasis) Agreed it's conjecture but so is almost everything on the subject at this stage. It's not whatiffery (whataboutery) or scaremongering as suggested by another, it's an invitation to discuss a possibility. Feel free not to if you think it too far fetched.
  22. The figures I gave were what lands in your Thai bank so include everything.
  23. When I bring money into Thailand I usually use Wise whose MO is to take my funds in my home country and use their own funds in Thailand to square me up. They show on my bank statement as funds received from another (Thai) bank. Who is remitting in this scenario? If as suggested Thai banks may report funds received from overseas as a tool to identify taxable funds to the RD, these will not be reported as remitted by me but by Wise. What could happen here?
