  1. I have and I believe it does as I fall under this definition from the UK DTA.
  2. Pay tax in another country and offset it against any potential Thai tax as per your country's DTA.
  3. No. Wise' own calculator gives you what you will actually receive after fees are deducted, as it appears XE's does too.
  4. I don't believe so from looking at the information on their app.
  5. I thought that was evident from my post (my bolding for emphasis) Agreed it's conjecture but so is almost everything on the subject at this stage. It's not whatiffery (whataboutery) or scaremongering as suggested by another, it's an invitation to discuss a possibility. Feel free not to if you think it too far fetched.
  6. The figures I gave were what lands in your Thai bank so include everything.
  7. When I bring money into Thailand I usually use Wise whose MO is to take my funds in my home country and use their own funds in Thailand to square me up. They show on my bank statement as funds received from another (Thai) bank. Who is remitting in this scenario? If as suggested Thai banks may report funds received from overseas as a tool to identify taxable funds to the RD, these will not be reported as remitted by me but by Wise. What could happen here?
  8. You can compare the two on line. As I'm typing this, for £1,000 GBP Wise will give you 45,506 within seconds and XE will give you 45,416 THB. XE app says delivery time is "Typically within 24 hours" but I've not actually used them to know how accurate this is.
  9. Do bots count as staff and are there settings you can adjust to improve the quality? The current regurgitations (eg from Pattaya News) read poorly.
  10. I hope to be down there tomorrow and if I remember I'll take a pic for you. Maybe you could do the same if you knew where it was.
  11. I walk/taxi Soi Honey almost every week. It's always a trafffic/pedestrian madhouse when I pass through so don't understand the "dead" comment.
  12. Agreed, and if possible choose one of each processor, Visa and Mastercard, to have a backup in case one network has issues. I have that from two different UK banks.
  13. I use bank transfer from my UK bank and as long as the amount sent < 50,000 THB it's almost instantaneous too
  14. Damini in Soi Post Office give a better rate and are open 24 hours but don't have the branch network of TT. When withdrawing at ATMs the exchange rate is set by the payment processor, usually Visa or Mastercard, unless you choose otherwise. With no bank fees this is one of the most efficient ways to get cash abroad. It was similar in Thailand before the ATM fee came along.
  15. OP-bot has just re-written this article and juggled a few words about to make it sound original. All 5 paragraphs contain the same information and written in the same order. Verdict: Must try harder. https://thepattayanews.com/2024/05/13/vandalism-defaces-iconic-pattaya-city-sign/
  16. Don't you think you've kicked the 4rse out of it enough? Try somewhere else for a while.
  17. If converting from GBP then you're correct up until about £1,200. After that Wise beat Revolut on cost.
  18. Must be the entry gates then, not the exit ones which are much more recent?
  19. Stop being obtuse and ignoring the context of my reply. How can anyone read the OP and not make an intrepretation of what is said?
  20. Not how I read it. My version: Moto taxi stops to allow passenger to alight. While getting off passenger drops a bag into the road which unseats a passing motorcyclist who can't avoid it. A small accident is farting and following through. Causing a motorcyclist to crash by dropping something on the road in front of him is much more significant and the OP will (rightly) be owing some damages.
  21. Does the article have a date on it? That appears a significant change if this article is correct. On further reading it's mandatory to issue a FET if the value is over $50,000 USD. Maybe lower value ones are a grey area or down to the bank local practices?
  22. Wow. Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit is on the ball. No looking back now. And replacement of the automatic passport-checkers? I hope not the exit route ones as they've only recently been installed. Or is the whole story just another slew of words with no basis in what's actually going to happen?
  23. Why? It's a villa resort complex which offers extra beds if required and a 24 hour reception.
  24. That's certainly a good data point for others using Nonthaburi.
