  1. It sets it's own exchange rate so even if it's better than the ones shown in the HfP article mentioned it would be good to know if it also beats Visa/Mastercard exchange rates. If not, a regular fees free card would probably would be a better option.
  2. How old are you and do you have any pre-existing conditions? For a comparison, my UK issued annual policy last year was less than £40 GBP. Worldwide cover except USA. Declared one pre-existing condition (no loading) and in my 50s.
  3. Can you give an approximate amount for the different lenses to give an idea of what to expect? A local hospital in the UK offers: Monofocal – corrects either short or long sight, with a choice of three focal points Toric – a monofocal lens that helps correct astigmatism (a problem with focusing) Multifocal – corrects both near and distance vision, like varifocal glasses Are there any others available?
  4. Just been on the Jomtien Hospital site and the special offer is no longer mentioned.
  5. There is some link between them but I'm not sure of the details. The thread it was discussed in mentioned an initial check being done at Bangkok Pattaya (maybe they had the required equipment?) before the surgery at Jomtien.
  6. I'm planning cataract surgery (one eye only) soon and recently noted this pricing in a thread in the Chiang Mai subforum. Another option I've seen mentioned is Jomtien Hospital offering a special deal of ~40,000 baht.
  7. What if that emergency precludes you travelling and requires immediate treatment?
  8. Who do you fly with? I've had priority tagged baggage arrive first with several airlines arriving in to BKK.
  9. Yes, and no rent reduction during shutdown and continued to pay and feed the staff.
  10. A red-eye flight leaves the night before and arrives in the morning. Yours doesn't sound like that?
  11. The Rock House opened in November 2005 I believe. Still under the same ownership.
  12. Can you tell us the names of some of these apps? They may be operating system ones rather than Xiaomi bloatware.
  13. It doesn't because Santander doesn't have such a policy. As above, they may close any accounts for a variety of reasons, including those of non-UK residents, but being non-resident won't be the reason.
  14. Agreed, but another option may be to find another pension provider which more suits the expat's needs, although that may be easier said than done.
  15. I don't think "expats" is a group where it's not allowed to discriminate against like religions, races etc.
  16. You're misinterpreting this somehow: They may close it while you're abroad (as they can do with any account) but not because you're abroad.
  17. Was just about to say Santander. It's documented on their site: https://www.santander.co.uk/personal/support/customer-support/moving-abroad
  18. Kasikorn should mark international transfers as "Trade Finance Deposit" according to Wise. Do you see that?
  19. Yes, they're the correct websites. Watch out for DCC if you use a non Thai card for payment.
  20. Is that still the case? I know it's not for the Jomtien office and the online system can be used.
  21. £15 increase. The price of Business Class tickets now is such that you'll hardly notice a £15 increase in the taxes.
  22. That's Thai thinking for you. They have a bus from DMK to BKK and one from BKK to Hua Hin, but not one from DMK to Hua Hin. The regular shuttle btween airports however is only supposed to be for those holding airline tickets IIRC, but there may be ways round that, if the service mentiond by thaitot is not running.
  23. The flattened beer bars from Made in Thailand are to be replaced with beer bars! The Tesco that replaced some of the Buakhao facing beer bars in R-Con Plaza has been replaced by beer bars!
  24. I've just posted in your other thread that there's a 100,000 THB cut off point from it being almost immediate to it taking the long route. My example there showed it being initiated in GBP but the same seems true for USD. I have no personal experience of Kasikorn.
  25. The previous 50,000 baht limit you mention has been increased to 100,000 baht I believe. Screenshots attached support that:
