  1. I'm sure most people could think of an example pertinent to their own circumstances and whereabouts. How about a relative's mobile has a flat battery and borrows their friend's phone to tell you the cheque you've been asking about every day has arrived?
  2. It is referred to (in the UK at least) as contactless and relies on near field or proximity, not actual contact between the card and the reader. Hence the security aspect of cards being read by a scammer with a scanner while still in your pocket. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contactless_payment
  3. I would never enable such an option as there are so many valid reasons for unknown numbers to contact me. Imagine an emergency at home while you're away and the local police couldn't contact you because you don't have their number stored.
  4. Be prepared for the Bolt driver to try and extract more money from you. They appear to prefer short runs around town than trips of this distance. Stand firm though and you'll get one that plays by the book.
  5. Contact less = Tap and Go. No PIN needed. With his Thaai card, charges for buying currency or using it in an overseas ATM will likely be usurious. He is better to buy cash as he suggested in "B" in the OP.
  6. I suspect he means to use a Thai bank account using contactless payments but the charges for this would far exceed any charges for changing money so probably not a good idea. There are also still places insist on cash.
  7. On line at https://tm47.immigration.go.th/tm47/#/login
  8. You can always cool it down at the flick of a switch. You can't change the looks so easily.
  9. 5 hours at a push - there's only so much you can eat or drink - but 13 on the return? I think the price has gone now anyway so it's all moot.
  10. I don't know what you've read, but do you seriously think the banks would persevere with a system that increased fraud no matter who incurs the costs?
  11. Yes, you said when you questioned if the masks hadn't stopped the spread of infection. Well it's not necessarily true was my point as you don't know how many would have been infected if no masks were worn.
  12. On the same dates, outbound transit 3.5 hours and return transit < 3 hours price is 177K Baht, and the first leg is on Scoot so not even in business class. Over 60,000 baht more expensive to have decent transit times.
  13. I would imagine, but don't know for sure, that big shopping malls, offices, condo developments etc would be connected to "real" toilet drainage, but even if not these guys will still not be working in the shyty stuff as it doesn't exist if everyone has a septic tank.
  14. It's grey water waste sewers they clean which is waste from sinks, showers, washing machines etc, not black water drains which would be the shyty stuff.
  15. Not necessarily. If they were maskless it might have been 6 or more.
  16. If bankbook entries were consolidated at 6 week intervals it may be that no data shows for a period and if that's the case they would need a full statement.
  17. I don't think he was answering you, but the OP instead. It might be better to start a thread of your own with your question rather than try to hijack this one.
  18. Jomtien beach probably, but it had all gone a little later when the new mayor went to visit.
  19. 5 hours and 13 hours transit. No demand for that so it's reflected in the price.
  20. He's busy being an expert in a financial thread - with as much knowledge of the subject as he's shown here on bars etc.
