With the recent Bangkok bar testing more than 50% of the 200 plus customers on drugs during raid does not appear totally stop - but suspect it reduces the amount they drink. -

Tourist visa conversion to Non-O (Thai family)
lopburi3 replied to unheard's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Conversion process is the same but different form number and you are not as rushed to get bank account ready using tourist visa. You visit immigration with at least 15 days remaining with form/2k fee and proof of eligibility/Thai family member. That gets the non immigrant O visa entry (or you could just get from a Consulate) from which you use TM7/1.9k fee for one year extensions of stay. -
Most do make it - but use of single level bus is a lot less stress when rounding a corner or making a U-turn.

Optical Prescription Without Glasses, Chiang Mai.
lopburi3 replied to sirwilly's topic in Chiang Mai
If they have an optometrist on site they may suggest you use them for final prescription, but in either case you are not committed to buy glasses from them. In my case, years ago, an optometrist walked out on me after I could not see difference that he thought I should see and as said there are very few such trained persons in Thailand as it is a new profession here. A normal ophthalmologist visit in my experience includes 20 foot test, computer test and pressure test so basic information is available to doctor from these - if he feels closer testing is required he is capable of doing himself. As for "western" eye exams - some of the worst vision prescriptions I have ever had were from US optometrists - they could not even get eyeglass size right - and vision was totally bad. Being western is not a guarantee of being good. -
Your experience with the TOT NT Thunder SIM
lopburi3 replied to Mickeymaus's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Good luck. We gave up after being advised had to visit NT hqs. Believe name used to buy may have to match registration name (and may have to be Thai). We wrote it off rather than try to navigate NT hqs. Hope someone can advise better and that we were just the exception. -

Go to a hospital for ophthalmologist eye exam and they will provide and you have medical check at same time. -
Bank likely blocking access with that browser (which is not a normal browser for most people these days - less than 3%).

What? Gmail is email - how do you log onto anything? - Chrome is the website viewer. Are you actually trying to send an email to an https address?

Pedestal fan cable replacement.
lopburi3 replied to phetphet's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
If you do not get a specific answer any appliance/electrical/repair/tv shop should be happy to do as about a 5 minute job (but maybe need new wire). But most places have dedicated fan repair person/shop in market area. -
As one who developed severe reactions from polyurethane fumes after using on teakwood for a few days urge caution and perhaps use of a respirator when using. Still get very ill when enter any area that has been recently treated. Have never had any other allergy so was a complete surprise. https://ecospaints.net/polyurethane-fume-exposure-health-need-know

If you can use BESTATIN [Simvastatin] cost would be reduced (about 3 baht per tablet).

Hi..Can a foreigner call for an ambulance in Chiang Mai…??
lopburi3 replied to mikey88's topic in Chiang Mai
Most hospitals have such a service and expect if being treated for anything that would be the best option. I can't advise on emergency services and expect could be an issue if Thai limited. -
Believe you should consider cremation here with normal short service and have wife attend here and then transport ash to USA for further service if indicated for other family members. Should be much less costly and allow all to attend services.

Not clear if this happened at start of new batch or not but appears he buys from his hospital (which may be reason doctor ruled out bad insulin). Although should not happen I have had returned medication from hospital in the past (likely an employee issue) - and no guarantee how it was stored when out of hospital control.
