  1. Purposely wasn't there on the weekend, and wouldn't be near the nightlife area anyway. Not my thing and I avoid, and actually rare I drink alcohol at home, let alone while O&A.
  2. I can definitely relate to that. It's just nice getting away from PKK province. I really do enjoy the journey more than the destination/hotel stays sometimes. Last night was just OK, just didn't feel like driving any further. So today, only an hour further, and we're surfside with some nice views and haven't been in the area before. Was at a few beaches north, last few times through the area, before they started charging, as National Parks, and -5X foreigner tax / 40 vs 200 baht + car fee, and doubt if the allow dogs. Betong was quite nice little town, and glad we made the trip, even though we kind of blew through Hat Yai, Songkhla & Pattani. Visited cousin at Hat Yai, and was pleasant visit. Nice road & viewpoint to/from Betong. I really have been around the country too many times, and it's a challenge finding anything new & interesting. Luckily, I really do just enjoy driving around, hit a coffee/pasty shop, a view, and hotels out of the urban areas are inexpensive. A pitstop between Phatthalung & Trang Last night was 800 baht, next to a stream, and I even hopped in the pool. Now it's 1000 baht, nicer views, and nicer pool. Decent food is always a challenge, and I'm not exaggerating when I say 7-11 is a GODsend
  3. Still at Trang province, just moved over to surfside area;
  4. Chit Beer, and actually pretty good spot to sip a few, if in the neighborhood. Only open on weekends, I think, and it gets packed. I've been to the 38/photos of, off the list.
  5. No I haven't yet. Did see the coffee shop (Pa Chang Khao Robusta), in my searches of the local areas. Thanks, and will pop in there one of these day, when over in that area. After rainy season, get some more water in the stream
  6. I peeked at AN on the phone while charging the car ... ... geez, why bother, as have to clear about 3 ads at times, as you say, if you can, before able to read anything. And that's with every tab opened ... W T F Why would anyone even bother, and that's while using an ad blocker, which does block ads & pop ups on all other sites.
  7. More like someone pour a lime slushy on their head
  8. Decades ago, as I worked for airlines, and flew quite a bit due to the flight bennies, and female pilots wasn't exactly rare. Not as many, as many pilots are ex-air force, which the majority were males, so yes, that does carry over to commercial airlines. Free training & experience for males decades ago, but woman have always been there, and catching up in numbers. Unfortunately, I'd be more concerned about the push toward diversity, as one airline announce, their priority in hiring is about diversity, and here I thought the 'best qualified' pilot would be a priority. Same with the FAA
  9. Everything is about Trump ... I'm surprised someone didn't blame him yet
  10. Night light in kitchen will be on, along with 65" TV, laptops, AC, air purifier, frigs, outdoor lights (independent solar). Off grid of course, and why would I do anything different, because people who can't run the country, planet efficiently suggest otherwise. If they weren't such idiots to begin with, there wouldn't be an imaginary energy, ecological problem. Just another reason for another carbon tax:
  11. "How Common Are Electric Car Fires? Electric car fires are exceedingly rare. There will be only three electric car fires per 1,000 vehicles over the vehicle’s lifetime. Fuel-powered vehicles will experience fires 35 times more frequently over their lifetimes. Since 2010, researchers who study vehicle fires found 200 fires in electric cars over the last 12 years. That research also studied the whole world and not just the United States. The U.S., however, had the most fires of that, 200: 52. The researchers also stated that in 20 years, the percentage of electric cars that experience fires might go up after two decades of wear and tear. The number of fires has stayed constant since electric vehicles jumped from experimental status to a viable choice for people buying vehicles. Are Electric Cars More Prone to Fires? Electric cars are not more prone to catching fire than their fuel-powered counterparts. Hybrid vehicles often catch fire because they, in essence, have two engines. It’s still not common even when considering hybrid vehicles, which catch fire about 130 times for every straight-up electric car. That’s still only roughly 3,000 per 100,000 or one in a hundred vehicles over the vehicle’s life. A new lithium battery is also even less prone to fires than lithium-ion batteries. It’s called the lithium iron phosphate battery. Recently, Tesla, Volkswagen, and Ford are switching to these new batteries for their newest vehicles. This will make a rare event even rarer. Still, the risk is so low that there are no plans to recall and retrofit already-produced electric vehicles. The same holds true for hybrid cars, whose fire incidence will also be drastically reduced. Improvements are “coming down the pike” more and more quickly these days, so changes to the power plants of electric vehicles are inevitable. As the market changes, safety measures for these electric vehicles are bound to change along with it."
  12. Some real uninformed, inexperienced replies ... ... I only use my Pink ID, and it has been accepted EVERYWHERE in TH. Real life experience vs barstool BS
  13. Why would anyone buy an EV when petrol is so cheap ... Actually 91 is 37.65 down here in the south, Trang, Phatthalung, Sonkhla, Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat.
  14. I must really be F'g bored ... hmm, let me see ... searching for just the fast chargers... ... nope can't find any, so if living in Chonburi, use the baht buses ... Photo below is obviously fake, as the guy on the barstool next to me, told me there is no fast charging network in TH.
  15. Give this a bump ... we're O&A now, and slow ride back home, after going as far south as possible. Checking off the remaining provinces we haven't visited. NO ISSUES CHARGING THE EV THE WHOLE WAY DOWN OR START OF RETURN Southward route: Returning, and in Trang now for couple nights, then up through Krabi, Phang Nga, and Surat Thani again, before Chumphon & back to PKK. Have done that a few times, so no surprises expected. Happy Motoring
  16. Flooded/heavy traffic and you need to go 78km and car states you got 90km left ... well, nuff said. Adding any other opinion would be considered offensive.
  17. To add to my previous ... my dog is always on a leash, as too damn stupid to not get run over, or chase after anything moving in the grass. Even caught a pigeon at the park, though did drop it, when I told her to, and it flew off, seemingly no worse from the taste test. She did a taste test on a cane toad the other day, dumb ass ... so wife spent a bit of time wiping her mouth out. I wasn't with her and it was in the yard, as she knows to avoid them, if I'm there, or a swift kick will follow with any thought of disturbing a toad. "NO, don't even think about it" usually works.
  18. To add to that, yes, you will need to subscribe to the different vendors. All quite easy, after a quick learning curve. Some payment differences, through app, pre-loaded, bank transfer, or CC. I would highly advice not to register with Evolt, very few fast charger, terrible network, and can't withdraw funds once on app.O We use EV Station Pluz & PEA Volta almost exclusively. Since having a MG, registered with them and have used them a lot in the past, but like the EV Station Pluz locations @ PTT Parks, with plenty of munchies (7-11) available. Usually hit in the AM, and being our 1st meal for the day. O&A (out & about) now, and seems we eat as much from there, as we do restaurants
  19. What net citizens ... not Thais, as I've yet to see anyone pick up after the dog, myself inclusive. But I don't live in urban area, and she won't do her business on walkways. Of course, I drove her to the park (prior house), so not to drop any land mines on neighbor's property, as simply rude. But at the park, on Vit D run, land mines placed on non-walked areas, away from walkways & excesice equip.... & it's free grass food, or locally, down from the house, (present), along roadway with no houses.
  20. Be nice to actually have a Thai motor vehicle site, in Thai script, with actually legality of ebikes. Would think and ebike, would have pedals. Though the smaller ones I've seen, the pedals seem to be just window dressing and yet to see anyone using. When researching, I found nothing concerning ebikes. If it has 2 or 3 wheels and is motorized, it's a motorcycle, no matte what size, 50cc or 250w, or how powered. Whether that has been updated or not, I don't know as haven't searched recently. Which would require registration, license & helmet of course. Have yet to see any ebike, mobility bike/scooter pulled over/stopped, getting cited, and there's plenty around town, that seem to be ignored by PoPo. Also thought the motor size was limited to 250w or 350w, from sellers stating laws, without any verification of. Mine (DIY on a Schwinn) is 1000w, and the same as the smallest motor of DECO motorcycles' 3 offerings (1000-2000-3000w), which our DECO motorcycle is 3000w, and will do 90 kph, as I've done 87 kph, and still had more throttle to go. Had my DIY ebike up to 40+ kph, but no desire to go faster, as not built for speed, both suspension & brakes are still original, and I'd never stop in time if an emergency. Most ebikes <500w motor will do 25-35 kph, and maybe 30 kms on full power, with light load (1 person). A lot depends on your battery also, if it will provide enough juice to max the power output of motor. Most ebikes have 3 modes, pedal (no power), PAS (Power assist while pedaling) and full power (no pedaling).
  21. I agree, and don't think anyone suggested they could. The world of everything is intertwined. One has 2000 ish parts, and fuel used to operate them, degrade many of those parts, and they need replacing. An industry in itself, and why (the profits) they've been the dominant transport now, and for the next couple decades, or at least 1. A machine made to malfunction for profits vs the alterative; batteries & electric motors that will probably outlast the rest of the vehicle. Easy choice for some.
  22. I doubt that ... 1989 & Swayze ... no thanks.
