  1. I don't think those traps work out side. The just call out for more to come over. Inside they are pretty good. I would be more inclined to think foliage may be the problem. I have a low going plant ground cover that the mosquitos just love, Stays moist under the leaves. If I go near that area, they swarm. I have planted things they say repels them (lemongrass, Where Citronella comes from) but not sure if it has done any good.
  2. I am happy with my life. Lots of big mistakes, lots of what if"s. But would have been that way no matter what other decisions I made in the past. There was a great movie about a dying man telling his life story. But the stories didn't make sense because they all hinged on a one decision he made when he was 8.
  3. The last time I was in there, they only let one person in to pick up the PP anyway, due to Covid,
  4. 75 years ago I was born in the old US south. Maybe a third of the locals were black. I rarely saw black people, not in my school, not at the stores my family went to. You know why? They just wouldn't fit in.
  5. What, working with his own prejudices and assumptions? I guess he should also be able to pick who he serves?
  6. We grow our own rice and vegetables so I don't notice the price on those. We bake and have seen the price of flour go up over 10%. Packaged chicken sold at Tesco went from 300g to 250g, I think to hide the price increase. I also see less butter croissants, and more margarine croissants being sold at the old price of the butter. The butter ones are at least a third more now. Seasonal price differences makes it hard to know what is what.
  7. Maybe they are not staying long enough. Maybe every thing is fine at first but the problem comes up after a time.
  8. That is how I got screwed last year. Korat always set my last 90 day to the end of my extension. Last year I didn't look at my extension date and went in using my 90 day -date--7 day overstay! Did the 90 day online as I usually had done.
  9. Check both the country you are going to and the airline. To go to the US, I only need a ATK test within 24 hrs of the flight, but if my layover is longer than 24 hours in Japan I will need a PCR. I think when I came I had to have a PCR to fly JAL.
  10. Just wait to meet someone riding the other way
  11. Locally, if a vendor asked me to move so he can set up, I would move since I know he paid for the spot (they pay more for outside of schools, hospitals etc.). Some places that look like they may get a lot of loading and unloading traffic is best to avoid, you may get locked in by a delivery truck. I will park almost anywhere if I know it will be a short stop. Anything longer we will usually ask if there is some doubt. Rarely told not to do so with reason. A bar? I would want to know the reason. Short story Back in the States this time around, I would go to this coffee shop in the morning and study my Thai and Spanish. I usually wore headphones. There was a little table for two away from the main area that I could get since I came in so early. One day a guy came in and asked if he could sit in the other chair. I said "sure, go ahead". A few days later the same guy comes in asks again. Again I said "sure". Then one day, he came in and asked, but I told him "no" that I had a friend that was coming in shortly. He stomped off saying "I don't think you can reserve seats here!". The next day, he comes in and sits but doesn't ask. The same the next day. The third day, I unplugged my headset and turned the volume up. He got up and told me I was very annoying and left.
  12. I find it funny that it is the people who complain about how foreigners are changing the way "its always been" in their own country are the same ones that that want the Thais to change to suit themselves.
  13. I am sure everyone here has read "our side" already. I am certainly not pro Russian. I don't believe Russia had the right to invade even if they didn't like the ways things were going. As for the Russians here, they are just people who came here to have a good time, Let them be.
  14. I am against all wars. But I do think people should see both sides of the picture. https://www.thenation.com/article/archive/neo-nazis-far-right-ukraine/
  15. I wasn't making a judgement call. If I was in the same boat I might do the same. We all seem to rationalize our actions when it comes to personal gain. I'm from the US so I just wish you would keep it down as to not give my country any bad ideas.
  16. I hear about this almost every week. My Brit friend has been here 20 years. Wants to go back for the required 6 months to get a raise and then return. Others keep a address in England and "hide out" here.
  17. Sold everything. I didn't have a house anymore, lost it in a flood, didn't have flood insurance since I was not in a flood area. (long story). I had a construction company and a cabinet shop. Sold all the tools-- I really miss them. I have a friend here who keeps his house, makes good money off it renting as a vacation rental. When he wants to return for vacation, he just calls the manager and puts the rental on hold.
  18. That is what I do, both riding and walking. I do not live in a city. It puts shivers up my spine when I see Thais walking with their backs to the traffic with their small children on the outside.
  19. When I came you were required to put the Morchana app on your phone. The app sent a notification of when to get tested and a link to report the results. The link was user specific as it would only take my info. I tried to input my wife's and it would not work, she had a different link. So they know if you have reported or not. The hotel also "asked" that we inform them of the results. The powers that be may not be going after those that skip out or they may be waiting for you when you leave. You can hold a gun to your head, it may not be loaded. You are free to pull the trigger, your choice.
  20. A friend of mine 35, died last year. He was feeling a little poorly and someone noticed that the whites of his eyes looked a bit yellow. Went to the doc for some tests. When the tests came in he was told he had 10 days to a month to live. Liver cancer. He died bravely. I still can't imagine what it must be like to know for sure you only have days left. Knowing you won't have to turn another calendar page. What to do with those last days. Most of us will "live forever" until we die. Count your blessings.
