What app could you use on that for an IPTV service with ease of use of something like Perfect Player for Android?

There's a version of Perfect Player for Windows. Otherwise VLC or MyIPTV Player.

I'm done with Android media boxes, mini PC running Win 10 is the way to go.

You will understand that this thread s about Kodi and Android apps, so how do you install the Android apps on a Win 10 mini pc

Please don't say bluestacks emulator, because all emulators are crap.

I know you can install Kodi on Windows, but it doesn't perform nearly as good as on Android.

I'll be staying with Android TV devices then.

PP for Windows is very clunky on Windows version, VLC and my MyIPTV which I have on my laptop don't do catchup with IPTV services, just play the live & VOD stuff last time I checked. For me PP on Android is better / faster to use than any version of Kodi for catch up TV with IPTV services. Kodi my second choice on Android. At least that is my experience until now.

Beyond Kodi, which does work perfectly well on Windows, I don't miss any Android apps. I can access BBC iPlayer and other UK TV channel equivalents through the browser, the BBC also have the iPlayer app in Windows that let you download programmes. I access my video and music libraries via Kodi, though I also use Pot Player and Foobar 2000.

I've had no issues with Kodi on Windows, I don't recognise any difference in performance between Windows and Android, favourite addons currently are Incursion and Supremacy though also run Modbro and TubiTV.  I did have problems with Kodi on Linux which is a bit more bumpy, hence my deciding to go with Win 10 rather than Linux.

The Celeron 3865U  cpu with integrated Intel 610 HD graphics allows me a 4K screen resolution of 3840 x 2160 on my Samsung TV, with 4Gb of RAM and a 500Gb 7200 rpm HDD I can get performance way beyond an Android box.

I understand that this thread's about Kodi and Android apps, I just wished to highlight that, as it becomes more difficult to obtain Android media boxes, there is an alternative solution.

Please tell us why Kodi does not perform 'nearly as good' on Windows compared to Android.

By the way, you will of course understand that this thread OP includes reference to Kodi under Windows and Android.

How do you expect to watch anything.

3 of 4 died 1 year ago, and Placenta was pulled on Monday this week, when Blamo threw in the towel.

It will still work today, but die a slow dead together with Neptune rising and all other addons from the Blamo repo

What about Exodus? That seems OK.

Exodus died more than one year ago.

The one you will have on your device is from a bogus repo, and will mess up your system.

Kodibae is one of the most toxic repos floating around

The reason Exodus is toxic is because its on a TV addons blacklist? Isn't that because TV addons have to call out the repos that share copyright material to stop being shut down themselves?

Nothing to do with that.

I agree TVaddons in itself is toxic, but if you are closely involved in the Kodi scene you will know Kodibae repo is toxic.

The golden rule is never touch an addon that has been abandoned by the original developer.

If and addon or repo get discontinued always remove it from your system, or at least disable automatic updates.

If an abandoned addon get taken over by an unknown source, you never know what get installed on your system.

There have been case of addons that contained bitcoin miners.

But I know it is more fun to just say Kodi doesn't work

The Minix x8 H plus can get Android 5.1 firmware installed, so you can run Kodi 17.6

I think I've given up with Kodi as the addons don't last long and isn't worth the effort, but is it still worth upgrading to Android 5.1 for non Kodi use?

If you install the right addons they will   last. My builds have addons from developers that are there for the past 2 years and work excellent, and my customers in 8 countries seem to agree with me.

Some of them even tried a IPTV service and turned back to Kodi because it worked better and cost less.

Those that claim that kodi is not worth it are ignorant about how to use kodi.

Of course some apps already work only on Android 5.1 or higher, because it has a different API key, and the number of those will only increase as time goes.

You can't deny that kodi addons come and go all the time. Its a pain, you install, good for a few weeks or months then gone once the developer discovers girls or reaches puberty. At least with apps like mobro, terrarium you get a decent amount of time out of them.

I'll get a new box when i pop back to the UK

You should read my post again.

You have to distinguish good developers for one night flies, but you can't do that by watching youtubes.

The best working addons in my builds are there for years already, because they are from renowned developers.

Why would you pick up a box in the UK, since every box on the market is produced in China.

That really shows your ignorance on the subject, because all the respectable developers I know have a family with children.

UK seems cheaper for many things. I fancy Amazon Fire TV, although i may change my mind nearer the time. One thing for sure i won't be buying from you. I'll ignore your other guff

I wouldn't even sell to you because it is clear that you are the kind that needs assistance to switch on their television, and that would make it very tiresome for me.

For those that think there are no toxic addons, have a nice read here, take note it makes mention that only Windows and Linux devices are affected.

I'm sure I have seen posts from members here that said they used the Gaia addon.

For a period of several months, they had been installing malware to devices which had the Gaia addon installed. The malware has since been removed from the addon, but persists on any devices that have already been infected.

This issue only affects Windows and Linux users, however is quite disturbing nonetheless.

Anyone with any sense will always treat any download with caution, and of course have adequate anti-virus/malware software in place just in case.

I'm still interested to see your evidence that Kodi on Android is superior to Windows. Personally I find Kodi on Windows to be better; but that's most likely because my Windows box has a better CPU, graphics, and more memory than any Android box I've had.

in your first sentence you again showed that you have actually not the slightest idea what you are talking about.

You really think that many tens of thousands of people with Kodi on their Windows, got caught caught with this particular malware because they didn't have an AV installed?

Just to give you some info, I'm not your average kodi user, but for years i'm professionally involved with Kodi, and for all those years i have it installed on my Android boxes as well as on my PC for specific reasons. So i definitely know how it behaves on both OS.

I could waste my time to explain it to you, but you have shown all over this and other threads, that you would not be able to comprehend it.

Goodbye
