Yothin Burana school building does not meet contractual specifications

BANGKOK: -- The Office of the Auditor-General has discovered that the new cone-shaped building of Yothin Burana school in Bang Sue district of Bangkok Metropolis is not equipped with automatic fire sprinkler system which does not comply with the building control law.

 

Also, several other features of the 13-floor building do not meet the specifications stipulated in the contract, according to the OAG’s findings. For instances, there is a gap of between 20-40 cm between the building and the fire exit stairway while the specification calls for the stairway to be attached to the building; the railing of the stairway in the building is only 90 cm high against 110 cm high as stipulated in the specification.

 

The OAG was also told that the specifications were downsized because of a cutback in the budget for the building construction which was originally earmarked at 965 million baht.

And the cutbacks are mostly in the safety elements of the building? Sounds like Thailand has reached developed status.

Just fire all inspectors and the management....This is very serious...

Just maybe make a traditional building and have money left both for sprinklers and the usual amount disappearing in someones pocket.

Notice the amount of cladding. No automatic fire sprinklers. Remind you of something? This is just another example of corruption. Ran out of money because pockets needed to be filled.
