Buying Bike in Thailand and going to India

Featured Replies

How feasible is this ? Whats the best way ?. Through Myanmar would be out especially now with the trouble in Rakhine state . How pricey would a return trip by ship with the bike be ? From Thailand or Malaysia . Could I drive through China and down through Nepal ? I would buy the CRF 250 as its cheap and reliable .

Check GT rider forum.

One guy in there rode from Thailand and up near Mount Everest in Nepal and back on a Suzuki 650 Vstrom.

He went though Laos & China as I recall.

If you are comfortable on a CBR250, yes it can be done on one.

I don't what paper work are involved in such a trip but good luck with it.

When we were in Laos we met a couple of Malaysian lads on Honda Waves who were heading for Nepal, via China. They seemed quite confident. One was on a Thai registered bike as his own bike had expired underneath him.

It would seem to me a better option than Myanmar/Bangladesh at this precise moment.

The CRF would be my choice too.
