Used oil collection/recycling point

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a place to drop off used engine/hydraulic oil - preferably for recycling in or around Chiang Mai?

All the recycling places buy it by weight. These days you don't get a lot for it as the price of oil has dropped considerably in the last year or so.  However; you will get a few Baht and done your bit for conservation and if you take all your tins, bottles, plastic and paper with you at the same time you will have done even better.

Can't find anywhere? Go around the back of B-Quik around 9pm on a Sunday and leave it by the back door?

Great idea and while you are out doing that about 300 of us will stop by your place and empty the backs of our pickups at your back door.

Thanks for the suggestions. I may forgo the 'behind B-quik' approach as the pickup response is less than desirable. Not a matter of wanting money for it, just want to see it disposed of or recycled correctly. I managed to get a lad that delivered some fencing to remove it and he will sell it and return the containers (that I need). Next problem is the hydraulic fluid from the tractor, all 34lt of it! The boy seemed to think that nobody would want that. Any ideas about that oil?

why don't you check with one of the many places that drain hydraulic fluid our of vehicles daily

car repair places

heavy equipment repair places

Yup, thanks. They are obvious ones, but I thought there may be a dedicated oil collection place. Not that I wouldn't trust the locals to dispose of oil properly....oh wait.....

The m/cycle garage I use, has it's waste oil collected.

To the best of my knowledge the 'Collecter' pays a small fee for the oil.

I will visit on Saturday morning and ask about the details.
