A retired Revenue Department official lit himself on fire in an apparent suicide in front of a neighbour’s house in Chiang Mai’s Muang district on Thursday morning.

 

Police found the burned body of retiree Krithong Chureuk, 79, following a suicide report at about 9am at the Siriwattananiwet Housing Estate in Tambon Nong Hoy. Police discovered that Krithong had doused himself with gasoline before fatally setting himself alight in front of a house some 100 metres away from his home.

 

Police said Krithong had suffered from depression for years.
