Hi folks, my gf is currently in bangkok for a few days searching for arts and crafts shops, as Cambo is a bit spartan in this department, 
Can anybody point us in the right direction? maybe name or map a couple of decent shops selling anything artsy or crafty. She works at producing things so we need the tools and bits and bobs etc....

Surly Chatuchak market, I live up near the Lao boarder & went across  quite a few times as I like their art work. (many can't afford canvas) so they paint on large pieces of wood that they have picked up, have seen some really nice stuff on half a door etc.

They priced me out-- but when I was last in Chatuchak I brought a lot of Lao art for less than half the price they quoted me in Lao.

 

There is Village in Essan that just makes Tree Plants, they get an old tree stump and graft something completely different onto it, looks really effective--I know she isn't interested in this, but I drove out to it, the whole village does nothing else but this--the guy said to me--You lucky 2 days Chatuchak truck come take everything, every month truck come.

She can make some good contacts there for supply, they can always e-mail her photos as it comes in.

 

There are some new art café's open in BKK that display peoples work..

Oh yes now..how did that slip my mind.....one of my younger Daughters 2nd book comes out this week---she is just a water colour painter.....her & friends...still undiscovered...so dead cheap....
