"Tesakit Tommy" joins the cops in a big smiley welcome for high season

Chiang Mai's top brass turned out in force yesterday for an event to usher in the high season.

Along with a huge smiling "Tessakit Tommy" they toured the streets of the Night Bazaar assuring tourists of safety and protection.

They handed out leaflets and reminded everybody they were ready, willing and able to help 24 hours a day should the need arise.

It was also a good occasion to talk about arrangements for the upcoming Royal Funeral and answer any pressing questions.

The group was led by police chief Sakhorn Thongmunee and Chiang Mai governor Pawin Chamniprasat along with the chiefs of all the local stations and other high ranking officials.

Daily News did not refer to the large doll but we at Thaivisa think the name Tommy is rather apt.

The news organisation mentioned that the northern Thai city is the fourth largest tourist destination in the country making it a pivotal part of the nation's tourism sector.

A BIB blow up doll, kinky! Probably puffs out a load of sense.

Sorry to be a killjoy but Thesakit Tommie appears to be wearing a police uniform rather than a Thesakit (Municipal Police) uniform.

Probably more brains and sense than his colleagues!

except when it's raining

Looks rather like Pinocchio . Wonder if his nose gets longer if he tells a lie.

The grotesque, unnerving, "cute" image that is so often put forward to soften the perception of the true nature of the instruments of state (police, military have all got them) and "sell" them (primarily to children) in the regimes of Asia:

"Geumsaegi", North Korea.

Hope these two will not miss the blow up dolls too much.
