BANGKOK — Festivities for Friday’s Loy Krathong will be low-key with the usual fireworks, sparklers and sky lanterns prohibited.

I had thought the Government had declared the period of mourning to be over on the dedication of King Rama IX's ashes by King Rama X?

Egomaniacal decision by Bangkok governor?

I mean, sometime it must be over.

Will he order low-key Songkran?

On the contrary!! Songkran will be held after The major socio-political Thai event in December.  All subsequent festivals are ordered to be overly joyous.

A bit short notice!  Will they let everybody know by smoke signals, or is it just another plan to fill the party collection box!

Why not cancel Songkran while they're at it; might save a few thousand lives.
