I am unclear on our car insurances … I show below just a copy of two of ours.  Both are with Bangkok insurance.  The top one is that which Honda gave us when we bought the car and the bottom one the re-insurance of the Everest

Looking at the left hand column

looking at the top example

In an accident causing death, insurance will pay out a max of 1Mthb to each person but total payout will not exceed 10M thb

Also damage to property (this means the other car) as well as property …cover to 5M thb

Looking at the lower example

Max death payout is 2,000,000 thb (max 10M thb) but property damage is only 2.5M thb

2.5M thb doesn’t seem much if you hit an ‘S’ Class! What happens if damage is above what the insurance covers …you have to pay?

Looking at the middle column … max payout for your loss and any excess agreed.

Can someone please tell me if my assumptions are correct and also explain the right hand column … there is quite some difference between the two policies

thanks

These are the English details (taken from AXA website.)

Are they both no. 1 policies? It could be a typo on their end, but I have been with tokio marine, axa and bangkok insurance and each time my property damage insurance was 5,000,000. Only the last year with my PJS I went to a no. 2 policy and then the property damage went to 1,000,000 THB, but the other third party insurance amount stayed the same.

The right hand column is the bottom left with axa. It explains how much you are insured for your own passengers.

I triple check with the DLT and they told me from this year each sedan has to be insured for 7 people...(there are only 5 seat belts in a car).

I tried and tried to explain to them that this didn't make sense, but hey even Bangkok insurance couldn't do anything about it. So my civic is insured for 7 people.

Apparently they count 5 grown ups and 2 children....

Now it does seem that your Everest is only insured for 5 people...I didn't know that was possible. The amount also seems SERIOUSLY low. Making me guess this is not no.1 insurance, but actually no.2...

Your bottom 300,000 and 250,000 are bail bonds.

Thanks ... that seems to answer my questions

So I guess that we have to pay above any of those levels.

The 2.5M thb is on the insurance that Ford organised ... both on the Everest and the Fiesta.  This year I see that the Fiesta is a 7 seater! I expect that the Everest will become a 7 seater when I have to re-insure in January.

The Everest was bought in Nov 2015 BUT there was a problem with names on the policy so they re-issued the policy 6 weeks later with  a new renewal date.

I expect Bangkok Insurance to be at Motor Expo and I will bend there ear

If they could they would make it a 9 seater, but then you needed a new plate (white blue) ;-)
