papa al Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 ... not sure if alcohol is a carbohydrate [it isn't, but metabolically similar] but it will sclerosed the fuel system if left unused weeks or months. Ongoing PiA for papa. 3 + 5 = 8 non-carb-free girls to tend. >>>>>>>They should ban ethanol in fuel, and make rum / vodka/ gin // sugar, &c mak maa the world market. yep ???? 1

All i know is that it's a shop in the center of the town/city. It was quite nasty when the main tube from the main tank to the reserve tank turned out to be a tube for water only!!!???! Holy sh_e. Hallelujah!!! Result : Luckily, I saw that a lot of fuel was running down from the fuel lines to the rear and front cylinder, then down my knees to the ground, after starting the bike. The smell was horrific. The material looked great and I was asking them five times if it was for fuel as well and they always said yes...... If the fuel is running out at that speed, let's say doing 160 km/h and "having the blast", _a tiny little spark in the dark- and woosshhh!!!It will kick the shi_e out of you...aeehh me!. Thank "Go....???? "On fire" when doing 160 km/h? A nightmare when the gasoline drops on your jeans, or shorts,,/legs...and a little spark does the rest. A flooded spark plug cap could do the trick. Ride Safe!!!!! Yeah the green plastic pipe I have is for petrol and has solved the leaky old pipes a treat but I don't think a good idea for long time use on a motorcycle. I can only renew online but surely someone carries proper petrol line pipe in Thailand.

Popular Post johng Posted January 6, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 6, 2020 Fit a new front tyre ( inflated to 80 PSI doooh ) ,supply and fit new fork seals, fit new stickers..fiddled with front brake but not much improvement, 5 hours work and 900 baht at the nearby repair shack. And then on to my wife's Yamaha Spark ( at home after 1 celebratory new sticker beer ) I forgot that the right hand wing mirror has a left handed thread and proceeded to brute force with a hammer until the handle bar front brake casting snapped clean off !!! ???? So out with the trusty epoxy resin to glue it back in place, had to take the fairing off anyway to change the headlight bulb.. Mr's G was not amused ! 1 3
Isaanbiker Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Aussie post arrived today! Then the first shock. The new diaphragms didn't move the slides a bit. Tears... I had to think twice and was ready to give up at that point. They didn't sit well enough in the groove, so there couldn''t be enough vacuum to let them function properly. Then setting the floats was a pain the ar_e, the pilot screw and all in a sudden there's darkness. Tomorrow is the great day after work when the lady should ride well after a carb tune up and synchronizing them. 2

I have to say your dedication to your mia-noi is the same as me, keep at it buddy, mine blade is on the road now running sort of sweet but not perfect yet so still need to do a fine carb tune. My UK son is sending me 8mm inner diameter proper fuel pipe to replace the neoprene green fuel pipe which work well at the moment and maybe it could be OK but being plastic basically I just can't trust it. Apart from still replacing wiring harness and the usual maintenance it will be a happy year for me making my mia-noi pretty. ???? 1

Maybe a dumb question...but have you tried any of the main agent car dealers (major ones with their own workshops), i.e Toyota, Nissan, Mazda etc?

Thanks buddy but asking at car dealers they don't want to help, big motorcycles a problem where I live when asking the question, Bkk no problem and CM etc etc but long way from me. I can get some stuff but it's over 1 hour away and still no joy because sometimes they have to order from Bkk.

Popular Post Isaanbiker Posted January 12, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 12, 2020 Okay, here we go. I've bought my 1100cc Virago in August 2018 and had to fix it ever since. Too many parts were messed up by Thai mechanics, and as hard as it sounds, I had to pull the carbs a second time in six months and finally learned a lot about carburetors through our Virago FB site. Now we're talking about serious craftsmanship, setting float levels, using the "clear tube method," a tool called "Colortune' and a lot more I had no idea of before. I had to buy a new K & L carb rebuild Kit ( pretty good when it comes to the float seat and valve, almost OEM quality), two new diaphragms, ( only one was faulty, but it makes sense to replace both). First, I adjusted my valves when I was waiting for the parts to come, very important. I changed the float seats and valves, the main jets, the air jets, the enricher jet, the gaskets, put new pilot/ fuel/air mixture screws in and set them correctly. If you do not know how to check if your diaphragms are working, you might have to pull them again, so please be careful and use air to find out if the slides move freely. On top of the diaphragms is different air pressure than underneath, it's easy to blow some air into the breathers to see how they open. ( Or not!!!) I also bought new boots that attach the carbs to the engine, because the old ones were pretty hard and would have made such a job very difficult. After setting the float levels by using the "clear tube method" and renewing all essential parts in the carbs, I set the pilot screws for the rear, and the first cylinder on 2 turns out, the second one on 2.5. Also, new boots from the carbs to the frame were needed, and I finally got them together with the diaphragms being a considerable problem to seal correctly. New spark plugs a must, as reading them after a while is significant. Clean plugs make the job easy. I have to admit that I was so close to sending the carbs to a specialist in the US who's doing that for a living. On too many locations were problems I had no idea how to solve these issues. Then two days ago, the "big day"! I started the engine after cleaning the reserve tank, using a new piece of fuel line and replaced the almost entirely clogged fuel filter. The first run was not impressive, but the synchronization of the two carbs then gave the bike a great sound, and it looked good. But there's still the road test and the spark plug check to see if it gets enough fuel, or eventually too much. Lol, I almost crashed when I took off, my rear tire was spinning like crazy, I had never had so much power before. The same goes for the second gear, too much of acceleration, and the rear tire turns like hell. Finally, I was shocked by how much power the bike now has. On my test ride, I was very fast on 170 km/h but had to break down because of a U-turn and people who just don't get it. I only have 22 K on my clock, got full compression, and I must be the happiest Virago owner in the world!!! I've just seen one on baht & sold offered for 240,000 baht. Unfortunately, does this bike have 55 K on the clock, and the only photo shows that the bike must be pretty worn out. I had times when I deeply regretted it that I had bought my Virago, but now I'm a very proud Virago 1100 owner who's able to fix his bike alone. Now I understand that you've gotta go through hell, but you have to be able to get back. No Thai mechanic will ever touch mine again, and such an idiot caused too many problems. I've attached some photos of how the job was done and a video of the running engine. The one diaphragm had a tiny cut that I didn't see a couple of months ago. If I'd have known on how to check the opening of the diaphragms when pulled from the bike, I'd have saved a lot of time, money and nerves. My dear wife helped me with so many things and she's brilliant, her common sense is sometimes totally off, but often she's right. Ride safe out there; it's a deep jungle. bike running well video.mp4 8

I happy with my suspension set up for me & speed on road. After Carbs clean and reset did a red line test in 4th 255K and sounded sweet all the way up, a bit of a bubble of backfire on deceleration though not much but will now fine tune the carbs. 2

Kwasaki Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Took blade out again after trying to fine tune carbs but too difficult with fuel tank on so just managed a 1/4 turn out on each pilot screw to richen mix and it did seemed better. So not to kid myself will definitely fine tune with tank off and get them properly checked out. On the way back home started cutting out and finally came to a stop, thinking the worst was my mistake it was me that had let my mia nor down, not her whatsoever, I had left it on reserve and ran out of fuel. ???????????? 2

Popular Post guzzi850m2 Posted January 18, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 18, 2020 Came home from 2 month overseas work Thursday. Friday morning I was out washing & prepare my bike, PCX150 ignored. Later Friday, I rode down to a nearby bike tire-shop and got the tires inflated to the correct pressure, took her for a nice little 50 km spin. Best bike I ever owned, the 115hp 3pot engine puts a big smile on my face each time I ride it, the fun factor is huge. 3
Popular Post Neilly Posted January 21, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 21, 2020 I had a couple of RD350LC's many moons ago when they were first released...if I had your bike I'd have to do this... 3
