Recommended Posts

Hi,

I will be arriving at HKT in a few days. Does anyone know how much the metered taxis are from the airport to Karon Beach? The latest messages are read are a bit old and also vary in price between 500 and 800b.

Thank you!

My guess is 1000 or more. High season brings the sharks out.
500 baht from airport to Karon is 1990's prices.

Not with meter turned on. 100 baht airport  charge  plus meter charged about 500 baht.  At most 100 baht more.

The last time I arrived in HKT there was a taxi booth to the far right once you got out of the terminal building. All of those taxis used the meter. Isn´t that the case anymore?

As you know TiT.  The driver will make his decision once he sets eyes on you.  He'll either be honest or he won't.

As LivinginKata states, ask the driver to turn on the meter but this can occasionally throw up additional problems with a dishonest driver.

Personally, I prefer to pre-book and pay a bit more for an all-inclusive fare.  Up to you.

There's a meter rank just outside domestic terminal on the right about 50 meters (towards International Terminal)

I always use them.

Never had any issues with them (except sometimes new drivers dont know where much is!)

As stated 100thb Airport Charge plus the Meter....

Ps I've always found them cheaper than any other taxi options

GrabTaxi I use locally but is well pricey ....

Including a small tip I was charged 1,000 baht from the airport to Rawai, and it was a quick 50 minutes ride.

Metertaxi including 100 baht airport charge.

The Airport to Patong is 800baht. Patong to the Airport, you maybe able to get away with 600 baht, but that would be normally a Taxi from outside the Patong area coming to collect. Typically the Taxi's in Patong, Karon, Kata operate in a Cartel and won't undercut each other.

Back to the question, it will be 800 + baht , as Karon is a few miles further south than Patong.

Why not skip that hassle and use

https://phuketshuttle.com

For 900 thb hkt-karon.

Always take them. Always nice drivers, new big cars and good service and most importent point this drivers not on yah baa......

I use my S in L his van has been fitted with 9 larger comfortable seats instead of the original 13 seats, give him 1000 Baht the same as other people do in our village

He picks everyone up at the airport as well for the same price and is always there waiting for you to arrive, Phuket shuttle charge 1200/1300 baht for the same service, he needs to put his price up if the high season ever gets here
