SAMUT PRAKAN — Want to offer blood-red Fanta to statues?  Please do it at spirit houses and shrines, not at the airport, asks Airports of Thailand.

After photos of Fanta bottles placed at the base of the yak in the departure gate at Suvarnabhumi Airport went viral Sunday, the organization issued a statement Monday saying that offerings of worship cannot be placed at Suvarnabhumi’s traditional Thai statues.

Come on with all the myth around here, how do we know this fine looking gent does not want a drink now and again.

When I first came to Thailand I thought the drinks and food left at the shrines were for homeless people...

Lol, thais do not give a crap about homeless people.

They care about themselves and their own luck.

They rather help the spirits than help the needy.

Half empty drink containers get left all over the place, near my gate for one and I sure haven't got a giant Yak there near my bin!

If they were smart, they'd do a 180 and use the Ogre as a curiosity to draw tourists.

Millions of Facebook pages back home would be filled with photos of the Ogre in Swampy with his Fanta.  Hard to pay for publicity that good.

Edit:  And put a 5 baht extra tax on Fanta from the airport shops to donate to the homeless...  They'll still sell tons of it.

They need to place a 'Tip' jar and encourage cash. How do you say in Thai " cash speaks louder than Fanta" ?

Besides, I'd suspect the nearby fanta sellers placed the first bottles.

No Pepsi..........Coke!

This is 2017. They must know that all these unhealthy drinks are bad for his health. He's heading for Diabetes.

Following tradition established many hundreds of years ago, Fanta is the offering of choice...........

It seems the AOT does not understand Thai culture. :whistling:
