Local Transportation in Pai?

Featured Replies

I'm planning to drive up to Pai this coming week.  Already have a place to stay about 1.5 km outside of city center.  From what I can see on Google Map, there isn't much parking around the city center at all.  So my question.  Is there any local transportation to speak of?  I'm going to park my car at beer-thirty where I'm staying, but it would be nice to have a way to get into the city center for dinner and back out to my resort later in the evening.  Tried to email the resort, but ya'll know - TIT.  Customer service and return calls/emails are not a strong point in this culture. I'm admittedly an old fart, so simply want to head into town for dinner, chat with whomever is up to chatting,  and return back to the resorts well before the young crowd even gets started partying.  11pm and I'm thinking about bed and doing some touring starting in the morning.  I'm not adverse to walking a kilometer or two if I have to.  But it would be nicer to have a ride.  Thoughts?

There's parking scattered all around...We always end up close to Naahs kitchen or one of the nearby side streets...You can walk about anywhere in town from there in about 10 minutes....

The place where you're staying could supply transportation.  We've been to Pai a few times and found this option works for us.  This is one of those problems money can solve. (those are the easy problems)  And not much money.  Just arrange for them to drop you off in the center of town and pick you up at a certain time.  A few hundred baht should do the trick.  Better than driving after you've been drinking.

Pai will be absolutely jam packed with tourists during the coming week. There will most certainly not be any parking in town and the traffic backups will probably start at the souvenir shops out at the bridge.
