webfact Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Thai ministry gives green light to new Bangkok to Pattaya road charges - 105 baht Picture: Daily News A ministerial level meeting yesterday gave the go ahead for new charges on Route 7 from Bangkok to Pattaya. From 19th of January onward 4 wheeled vehicles will be charged anywhere from 10 to 105 baht depending on the distance traveled. Basically this means that a journey on the motorway under and up to 10 kilometers will cost ten baht and each additional kilometer after that will be one baht. The cost for six-wheelers is 15-170 depending on distance traveled and more than six wheels will cost between 20 and 245 baht. The Phan Thong booths are being ripped out but charges on the Ban Bung to Pattaya stretch will not be levied in the soft opening from January 5th to 18th. But thereafter the new charges will come into effect, reported Daily News, quoting Arkhom Termpitayaphaisit of the communications ministry. Source: Daily News -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2018-01-04
jacko45k Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 105... why on earth the odd 5 on the end? Can I get to Km 110 to shop at that place on the Frontage Rd from Hwy 36 without paying a toll?
wgdanson Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 And they need to get rid of some of the 'Fast Track' lanes. At some toll booths there are 2 of them for each 8 normal lanes and no-body using them.
paul545 Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 They need to make more fast track then maybe more people will fit the tag then the tail backs and non tag holders blocking fast track won’t hapoen especially during peak periods.
RichardColeman Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Yep, hit as many foreigners as you can on the main holiday road ! +1 for tourism
smedly Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Also how about bringing Thai regional motorway law up to date in the SEA region (and the rest of the world) by allowing large Motorbikes to use the motorways, 600cc up as from now I am going to have to use the very dangerous 3 to get to Bangkok and I don't like that at all, much safer for me on a motorway come on Thailand you are way behind all the other Countries in the region and the world, just another reason why so called modern Thailand isn't modern at all, these are very old laws that relate to scooters which I understand perfectly but there are now a growing number of big bike riders in the nation and it is just stupid to expect them to use dangerous "B" roads and ban them from motorways Come on Thailand lets move forward with this, it is well overdue and would be an improvement to road safety for the many large bike owners/riders
BuaBS Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Why are we paying road tax ? Toll ways / road charges s_uck . Glad I'm living in the provinces , no tollways here.

Not sure where you mean but the frontage road runs from the 36 junction - either join it from the direction of Suk (3) or from the dark side from the other side of the junction of the 36 and 7 from Rayong.

It is on the Bangkok bound side of Hwy 7 at km 110, and usually I could exit Hwy 7, go along the frontage Rd and pull in . After shopping, just go further along and into a tunnel to get back onto the Pattaya bound direction of Hwy 7. I am expecting the opening to the frontage Rd has been closed off now. There was no way I could avoid going through the toll booths entering Hwy 7 from 36 Eastbound at the end of last year.
wakeupplease Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Hey give these dudes a day off this is a bankhoilday and the brains behind the yellow con need a day off as all they can think off is another rip off.

Yes it has been closed but if you go up the 36 from Suk you bear left and go straight on to the frontage road - I did this yesterday and drove all the way up to Khaow Kheow golf club using the Frontage road.........but I came back on the 7.

You obviously do not drive through the tolls often then, the M pass lanes are busy, especially since they combined the easy pass with m pass. I often have to queue to go through, usually coz some brain dead idiot has gone to one with no pass, despite the signs and the blue chevrons.............
