Temporary Border Visa

Featured Replies

Is there such thing as a temporary border visa for Myanmar?

I'm thinking of doing a visa run from Ranong to Kawthaung. My understanding is that I need to pay $50 for a tourist visa. However, my girlfriend says we can get a temporary border pass, instead. I cannot find any (recent) information about this. Does anyone know the current situation? Thanks.

Has she seen farangs getting hem?

No. She has never been. She read up about it online. It's in Thai and I don't know whether it's accurate. My hunch is that it's not.

I don’t know, but me too. There were some borders near to my locality where they allowed Thais to cross the border temporarily if they leave their ID cards with the Immigration people. I believe this has now stopped (although the Casino’s are still full!)

But the thing that makes me think it might be a reality.... is because a lot of people do visa runs from Phuket. I can't believe they all pay $50 for a visa, on top of other fees. For just a little bit more I can book a return flight to KL - which is what I'm inclined to do. But if we don't have to pay a combined $100 then it's an option, since it'd be a nice drive up from Phuket.

pay  $10 at Burmese immigration at Kwathoung and u can stay up to 48 hours, BUT cant leave the town.

for me, 15 minutes in Kwathoung is enough..
