CityNews – The Department of Land Transport Chiang Mai launched a new taxi service called ‘Taxi OK’, which allows passengers to call a taxi via application.

The launching ceremony was presided over by Department of Land Transport (DLT) deputy chief, Cherdchai Sanunsrisakorn, who explained the purpose of establishing ‘Taxi OK’ as a step towards the development of Thai taxi services through enhanced technology. The aim is to increase efficiency in safety control and to improve accessibility through the application in order to respond to the actual needs of the passengers. He also expects this initiative to also increase the employment opportunities and improve taxi drivers’ well-being. The ‘Taxi OK’ system differs from the typical taxi meters in that it has a strong response system to the needs of the passengers by using GPS tracking. There will also be an identification system of the drivers, Snap Shot cameras, SOS buttons, and the Taxi OK application which is convenient for passengers to call a taxi via smart phones.
