rooster59 Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 "Smart" bus stops of the future will have free charge for mobile, says Bangkok Governor Image: Daily News The Bangkok governor has said that bus stops of the future in the capital will not only be able to tell you when the bus is coming - you will be able to charge your phone. Police General Asawin Kwanmuang - installed by the military after the previous incumbent was sacked - was trumpeting his "Smart Shelter" initiative at city hall yesterday. Apart from innovations like the arrival time of your bus on all routes, emergency advice and other travel information, the shelters will have the charging stations and high speed internet connections. The authorities just need to sort out contractual problems with the private sector then Asawin can usher in his brave new world of modern bus stops. He was responding to plans for ten innovative shelters in the Prawet, Lat Krabang and Bang Ken areas that are being paid for by the Por Teck Tung foundation - one of the rescue organisations that save people and pick up dead bodies after road accidents in the capital. Those shelters have already been given the go ahead stealing some of the general's "Smart Shelter" thunder. Source: Daily News -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2018-02-10
silverhawk_usa Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 The first thought that goes through my mind here is; am I going to wait so long for a bus that my phone has time to charge?? 2
richard_smith237 Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 Flawed thinking which has lost sight of any of the major issues... the primary one of which is having bus-stops which are 'off the road'... i.e. wherever possible busses pull into a bus-stop only layby... This would improve traffic flow and people wouldn't be waiting so long for a bus that they'd have time to charge their phones !
daoyai Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 ironic that the "smart" bus stop facilitates phone devise usage resulting in people being more stupid
Moti24 Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 ".....the shelters will have the charging stations and high speed internet connections." Looks like some real estate for the squatters is going to be up for grabs!
shady86 Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 Hahaha.. Another round of joke from the clowns. Let's see when they can implement this? 50 years from now? 2
Darcula Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 Still need to cross 2 lanes of traffic to get on and off the bus?
John Egil Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 Why not put charger spots on the bus seats instead 1
Sir Dude Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 (edited) As mentioned, won't have enough time to charge anything to a meaningful extent and some scumbag will decide it's "their" bus stop and charge people to use the facilities and figure out how a scam can work on it. Why do all the snowflakes insist on 'smart this' and 'smart that' just so that they couldn't possibly be somewhere without the comfort blanket mobile working or not being plugged in all the time....geez. rkidlad Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Well, it's a great way of finding something to buy so you can skim loads of money from the budget. I think most people would prefer new, clean and safely & well driven buses.

Do you think a bus driver would bother to look before pulling out, there would be accidents all day long.
lamyai3 Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 I can anticipate these sockets being used full time, most likely by people with no intention of taking a bus at all.
