I know this topic has been on before, but does anyone know of any poison that will kill pigeons on the spot?

I have an enclosed space where the dogs won't get to any dead pigeons, the only reason I have not poisoned  them before was the risk

of the dogs eating them, they probably wouldn't, they are well fed, but I don't want to take the chance.

Eliminate the SOURCE of the pigeons interest.

After much faffing about with 'Bird-be-gone' gels, plastic spikes and several hundred rounds of airsoft pellets, we simply  stopped feeding the dogs under the car port and put the dog dishes out of sight.

I live in a condo. The pigeons use the spacious balconies of the many unoccupied condos as pigeon lofts as they replicate their natural nesting habitat of cliffs. I would like to stop them visiting my spacious balcony as I occupy my condo and have to clean up their copious droppings. I don't mind other birds visiting but I am anti-pigeon. Would contraceptive feed work in the long term? And how would I target pigeons? I think somebody has suggested a rubber crow as well.

Maybe someone nearby is feeding their pets on their balcony... or they just have a mess on their balcony that's attractive to pigeons? You are correct that they may be using empty balconies to roost but the buggers have to eat as well. If there's something edible nearby, they'll use your balcony as a waiting room... or to rest after gorging somewhere else.

Tougher solutions in this regard. Apart from making their regular roosting spots unusable; spikes are unsightly but in lieu of (imported) sticky gels, I have found that a couple of pieces of string running closely parallel along the top of their chosen roosting ledges and secured with simple masonry nails at each end is less obtrusive but stops them landing. In another instance, a simple length of 1/2" blue pvc water pipe laid along the top of the ledges stopped them landing. They also don't like optical distractions and a friend had success with some lengths of old Christmas tree tinsel along the roosting spots. Drop-down, mostly transparent vertical blinds maybe? Again, there's the black or green colored, slotted plastic screening that is available in garden shop departments. That netting option from cheeryble sounds pretty good.

Stuffed cats or crows may have a short-term effect as pigeons may get used to their inactivity.

No need to poison the poor birds that are just doing what nature has given them,

get a spike rack over the internet and position them where they land/sit, they will

not be back again...

As far as I know the spike rack is for ledges and window sills, not on the ground, please correct me if I'm wrong,

I do not want to use poison, but I am at the end of my tether now. If anything destroys or attempts to destroy my property, then I will kill them anyway I can.

"Eliminate the SOURCE of the pigeons interest". I thought I had done that by getting all the entrances to my house blocked off, so they must be nesting elsewhere and returning just to annoy me, there is no source of food, so poisoning has to be the last resort.

I bought an airsoft gun, hit one pigeon with it, and now it does not work.

I tried a rubber snake and it only worked so long. contraceptive feed?? Where would I get that?

Pretty easy to bait and trap them, but if people are feeding them it’s a no win situation.

Make sure you keep the nests knocked down, they’ll get the message.

As far as I can see, they cannot get into the house, I recently paid over 2000 Baht for two guys who spent all day blocking up entrances in to the roof of our house and elsewhere. Can you tell me how to bait and trap them?

What harm are the pigeons doing if they are not nesting and roosting on or in your house.

They are just 'annoying' you be walking on the ground so you want to poison them?  Seriously?

Google pigeon trap. I’ve used the wire type that does not kill the effectively.

Put out the trap and start baiting right away, but leave the all the door wires up for a week.

After a week, let them down one wire a day until they’re all down and you’ll start catching them.

Leave at least one in the trap at all times to attract the others.

I used dry cat food for bait but I think most anything will work.

They sh*t on everything

Please read what I wrote.  They will not be making a mess if they are not nesting or roosting on the house.

The mess is a problem when it builds up from the birds spending a long time in one spot.

A pigeon walking around a yard is not going to make huge piles of poop any more than any other bird.

Once the OP has got rid of the pigeons will he next move on the mynah birds, doves, robins... as they just annoy him from being there?

For a serious solution (if OP has such a phobia about the birds) he should set off a few loud fireworks or other noise several times a day for a few days.  The birds will soon learn to stay away from that area and rest some where else in future.

Very tasty in pies....so the chinese visitors here tell me.........

Not just them.....my Dad had 5 gun dogs and used to go shooting pidgeons every Sunday...we would be served them up during the week ( cooked, not raw)..They were lovely as far as I can remember and not considered out of the norm.

Strange think though....my favourite creature now, above all creatures is the beautiful  Nok/Bird to admire and observe.....not to eat.

What absolutely brilliant ideas, especially the one about the piece of string, in my case running along the balcony rail.

I have just moved from a house to a condo by the sea. The 2 condo blocks have many pidgeons around them. My balcony is full of ornaments and wooden flying birds and all sorts of stuff from the house, so I needn't tell you how surprised I was one day (while I was actually standing on the balcony) a few pidgeons tried to actually land on the rail. The fact that I was actually standing there (I know they seen me) and all the other stuff, including a "twirley" thingthing, it in no way put them off coming to perch there. I had to hoosh them away. They have no fear whatsover.

Our condo provides a free service of netting over all vulnerable spaces.  Net is cheap. Handyman does it. Took a little time for most people to take it up, but it's helped a lot.

HomePro sells several varieties of plastic mesh and chicken wire. I tried a plastic kind, but it fell apart in the sunshine. My second try was a one-inch metal mesh. It's green, so not bad-looking. It's been in place a couple of years now, doing the trick. Don't forget the zip ties for fastening it to the railings.

A life like imitation raptor along with a sound recording of the bird works well. Of course, the real thing perching on the balcony cannot be beaten but I think they're probably a tad maintenance heavy :) .

I had them nesting above my car port under the eaves of the house. I removed the nest ( no eggs ) and as I was about to extend the car port and make access difficult I wanted rid of them.
I sprayed some chaindrite every other day for about 10 days and they haven’t returned, this was 6 months ago.

I have noticed that my neighbours now have a pigeon family living in the same location on their house , they don’t seem bothered about it !!

Heard the term 'bird brain'?

Habit rules all so unless you can break a 237 million year old habit of resting/nesting in nice places, pigeons will abound. Kill a few, annoy a few with rubber things (try inflated condoms), fake cannon shots (sure to annoy the neighbors), wire mesh all will be met with temporary success as next generation of bird brains has the exact same habit as old generation.

But frankly i do sympathize as i also do not like the pigeon shit on my balcony.
