Bowyen Roofing

Featured Replies

Does anyone have experience using this upvc roofing?

I was thinking about it for a minimal sloped roof but possibly the whole house as that needs to be replaced.

Says it can be layed over existing concrete roofing but I would think that would cause the roof to hold the heat once the tiles heated up from transference unless the roofing sheets are that good.

There will be more than one plastic roof tile company in the China exhibition area of the Architect Expo held in early May at Impact in Bangkok. You can see differences in the UPVC brands on offer and get questions answered in English. Bowyan has had a web site since 2011. I would want to see roofs they installed in 2011 to see how they have done in 7 years.

When you talk about laying it over existing concrete roof do you know if it is concrete or asbestos? I have been reading up about asbestos in Thailand and supposedly it was used widely for roofing. I'm pretty sure the house I live in has an asbestos based roof.

Would it make any difference? Asbestos in an existing roof is completely safe until you demolish it and even then is not high risk.

The OP is questioning whether to put the tiles over an old roof or replace the whole thing. If the roof was asbestos based it might be safer to get rid of it now in case it deteriorates. I know intact it is safe but if he is thinking of demolishing it maybe safer to take some precautions when demolishing it. If him and his Thai workers think it is just concrete they may not bother.
