Popular Post webfact
Your waist matters if you want to fly THAI Dreamliner By The Nation Passengers intending to fly business class on Thai Airways’ new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft will have to first pass the waist test. Flight Lieutenant Pratthana Pattanasirim, THAI’s director of security and flight standard division, said on Friday that a passenger with waist wider than 56 inches cannot fly business class on Boeing 787-9. He explained that the business class seats have been installed with new safety belts and airbag system by the manufacturer in accordance with the safety standards of the US Federal Aviation Administration. The safety belt cannot accommodate a passenger whose waist is larger than 56 inches. Pratthana said the new safety-belt system cannot accommodate a parent with a child sitting on his or her lap hence parents travelling with young children also cannot fly business class on the Dreamliner. THAI received the two Dreamliner planes in September last year and on March 6 announced that passengers with waist wider than 56 inches and carrying a lap-held infant could not fly business class. Pratthana’s clarifications on Friday came in the wake of Thai papers carrying headlines that the airline had banned “fat people from flying the Dreamliner”. Popular Post Bullie
And then Thai airways wonders why it is loosing money... Now I now at least one airline company that will never ever fly direct on the United States of America! I understand that Thai airways likes to exude Thainess, but this is ridiculous. The days are long gone when Thai people were small, skinny and nimble, especially the ones that can afford a western diet. And if the above picture displays a -very small looking- business class seat, I shudder to think what it will look like in coach.... 14 2

Not such a stupid idea really when I get checked for my 7kg cabin luggage and then see some lard arsed person that weighs twice what I do sit down next to me then I have to ask how they calculate baggage weight. Most airlines now are going for cheaper fares with no luggage. Trying to get back into the cargo business. 23 1

My Thai cousin couldn't close his belt in the plane, the stewardess got very angry because he didn't ask for a 2nd belt they have ready for cases like that. Complaining to the airline helps against obese persons. On my flight Dubai BKK in Emirates i had the pleasure to have the belly of my neighbour on my arm for 6 hours...i asked for another chair but the plane was full. It was disgusting and i won't fly with emirates anymore. They should ban fat people who don't fit in the chair. 8

Popular Post leggo
Best news ever , well done Thai - I hope other airlines follow and into economy too. Nothing I hate more than being sat next to some obese , sweaty being on a flight. On top of that they should charge for being excess baggage! Terrific news!

I don't want to ban obese people, but if they are over a maximum waistline they should have to buy 2 seats, or fly first class with individual seats.

Well as long as they don't put that lard on my arm it's okay with me. And mind you, i am tall and wide (not fat) but that armrest in the middle is half mine for sure...or i have to sit in an angle.. Actually i think the seats have to be a few cm wider as well...for european flights that is since we are taller than americans/asians/chinese. realenglish1
The easy way to avoid this is use extenders. Now Thai always has bad press and I for one will not fly Thai for this very reason I am 36 inches but its just another reason why Thai airways is not a good airline They do not care about the flyer What about a pregnant woman or as this article says people with children that must sit on their laps
Popular Post rkidlad
If you’re losing your hair, not your fault. If you’re ridiculously tall, not your fault. If you’re horribly overweight, it is your fault. You’re not ‘unlucky’. You are simply putting too many calories in your body and not burning enough. I’d love to be able to eat what I want when I want but I can’t. So I don’t. Sure, some of us are naturally more slender, etc, but these scientific laws apply to all of us. 7
