BANGKOK, 16 April 2018 (NNT) – Thailand's Prime Minister has expressed satisfaction over the overall situation during the Songkran holiday, welcoming higher interest in Thai traditions and lower instances of crime.

Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson Lt Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd has relayed Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha’s thoughts about the most recent Songkran holiday, making known he was glad to see citizens paying attention to cultural and traditional activities following the government’s encouragement to do so.

The PM was also pleased to know the amount of reported crime was down this year due to increased measures by the state as well as cooperation from citizens. Programs that proved effective during the period included the police house monitoring program, the polite water splashing campaign and a program promoting proper dress.

Today is the final official day of Songkran festivities and the beginning of the revelers return to their places of work.

The Prime Minister has, nonetheless, expressed concern over the health of those who have been engaged in water splashing for several days, urging all to be wary of their well being and to avoid conditions such as sun stroke and pneumonia.

He urged those splashing water not aim for others' faces and not drink alcohol while joining in the play. Authorities have been ordered to remain vigilant and watchful over both revelers and potential criminals.

Interesting that the increased rate of deaths and accidents if of little concern as compared with sunburn and water borne diseases.

So the smashed cars strewn around the country, the dead and injured, with more to come in the next 2 days is okay.

Hell as long as people wore traditional Thai costume it's a success.

I am not quite sure why he is concerned with people catching pneumonia which is spread by a virus, not usually by splashing water, the poor man doesn't even seem to have a basic education. Of course no mention of hundreds of road deaths. The huge 'elephant' lumbering around in the room, which he chooses to ignore.

In the land of the blind the man with one eye is king.....listen to what the PM says....ignore the evidence that is for all to see......:whistling:

Carnage on the roads as usual, Don Meuang a disaster and most revellers are yet to hit the road back to Bangkok.....however let's focus on the costume wearing (which was inspired by the tv show and not any government initiative)

The man lives in a parallel Universe.

but everybody got to follow boss orders

Oh boy, he's gonna sing about it...:

"I did get some satisfaction, I did get some satisfaction

'Cause I try and I try and I try

I did get some satisfaction overall

When I'm drivin' in my car, and the man come in my lane

he is all drunk and stupid from Songkran

and I hit him and run away

I did get some satisfaction..."

While totally ignoring the catastrophic figures for road deaths and injuries.

Unbelievable.

Or maybe not, if he regards the ongoing carnage on the highways as a "Thai tradition"

I don't believe the people need/needed any encouragement - they're always / they've always been / they'll always be happy to celebrate cultural and traditional activities.

You are forgetting the immense and intense service that government hospitals have to deal with at Songkran. That alone should make the PM unhappy.

Someone needs to learn to use aides with all questions to get proper answers. Thinking off top of your head for the answer and committing to it is bad enough with store sales assistants but when it's the top dog in the government doing it, it's pretty bloody shocking. His mate Prayut at least tried 3-4 times to explain his watch collection.

He urged those splashing water not aim for others' faces and not drink alcohol while joining in the play.

And what should the kids do who've lost their daddies and moms, mother Theresa of Thailand? .

With the drunk Driver figures holding at 200,000,  I'd cancel the one for next year now...............................:coffee1:..
