City officials placed on alert for summer storms

Bangkok governor Pol Gen Aswin Kwanmuang has ordered all district chiefs to prepare for emergency response as summer storms are forecast to slam Bangkok on April 25-27.

 

The governor posted the message’s order was posted on his Facebook page @aswinkwanmuang urging Bangkok residents to closely monitor weather forecast from the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) which has already issued summer thunderstorm warning between April 24-27.

 

Pol Gen Aswin said he had instructed city officials at all district offices to be on standby for emergency response during the period.

 

People could receive information or contact BMA officials through various channels, including Line id : @bkk_best.

 

According to the TMD’s warning, outbreaks of thunderstorm, thunderbolt with gusty winds and hails are forecast over upper Thailand, starting from April 24. People should keep off unsecured building and outdoor and farmers beware of crop damage.

 

Affected areas are as following:

 

April 24

Northeast: Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, Kalasin, Roi Et, Yasothon, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani.

 

April 25

North: Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Phichit, and Phetchabun.

 

Northeast: Loei, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Kalasin, Roi Et, Maha Sarakham, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Surin, Si Sa Ket, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen and Ubon Ratchathani.

 

Central: Nakhon Sawan, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Lop Buri, Saraburi and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya.

 

East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.
