Storms flatten Chiang Rai homes, rip away roofs

Storms on Tuesday night left 100 homes in Chiang Rai’s Mae Lao district damaged.

District chief Khathasit Neungla led officials and soldiers on an inspection tour on Wednesday morning at Tambon Pa Kor Dam, where many tin and tile roofs were blown away by high winds.

Khathasit said the 100 homes were in the villages of Ban Pa Dam Nua Moo 9, 3, 8, 10 and 11, several of which totally collapsed.

He said the municipality would provide initial funds for repairs and soldiers would help people rebuild.
