10 million Baht crackdown on drugs. Meanwhile the drugs get cheaper

The drugs are spreading among juveniles in the region as drug dealers had dropped prices because of additional competition and increased availability.

Police Region 8 held a press conference in Krabi, following weeks of big drug busts, to reveal another recent drug crackdown which has netted 85,170 amphetamine pills worth around 10 million Baht on the streets.

 

A couple arrested in the most recent case includes 24 year old Thepnarin Naksawad and 21 year old Kamonthip Kongmee, who were living in Plai Praya District of Krabi. The police learnt about them after arresting a drug dealer, who informed the police about them.

 

Police contacted them and lured them to sell the drugs in a snare at an oil palm plantation. Once confronted, Thepnarin confessed that he carried the drugs for his father-in-law named ‘Ban’ to spread to customers in the area of Plai Praya District and Tab Pud District in Phang Nga.

I imagine some of the confiscated drugs, somehow, make their way back into the system ?

With the riches that can be made, there would be some corrupt officials willing to take the chance.

It seems it does not take much for these guys to sing like birds once arrested,once again we see excellent 'luring' by the Police,and a 'snare' into the bargain,wow.

The unwinnable "War on Drugs" continues without much effect.
Lower drug prices are indicative of an ever increasing supply.  So much for stopping, interrupting, or even slowing the flow at the source.  Years and years of governments trying to unsuccessfully shut down drug trafficking should go to show that perhaps a policy of legalization or decriminalization along with development of medical interventions and drug education may be a better road to travel.  But in a classical view, that is a very liberal approach, not one that is embraced by control conscious states.

They probably catch like 5-10% of the drugs pouring into the country.

With the amounts of money involved, on a global point of view, is there unquestionnable honesty from the Drug Enforcement entities ?

 

Worldwide, it is obvious that top level politicians or police officers, people of influence in corporations or finance, with connections,  get their piece of the cake in narcotics trafficking.....so what can one expect in Thailand that is no better or no worse...
