Mysterious submarine in Phuket just a US nuclear-powered submarine

The surface of a mystery submarine on Sunday(Apr 29) has surprised local visitors and foreign tourists to Phuket with speculation that it was a Chinese submarine that Thailand has bought from China.

 

The sighting of the submarine was made by a Thai tourist on a fishing boat on the way back to shore in Phuket on Sunday.

 

He took the video of the submarine and posted on Twitter and Facebook page teambigkren, that went viral on the social media. Many viewers said it might be a submarine Thailand recently bought from China last year but wondered why it was delivered so fast.

PHUKET:-- The surfacing of a submarine off the west coast of Phuket yesterday (April 29) has caused a stir online, with people posting comments in belief that the submarine was one that Thailand bought from China.

 

The video was posted online by Thanapot Meeboonkit, who said he did not record the video himself. Instead, he asked readers to credit the actual person who took the video, but failed to name the person.

 

The sighting of the submarine was made by a Thai tourist on a fishing boat on the way back to shore in Phuket, noted Thai PBS in its report of the incident.

When the Thais do receive their sub from China It will be mostly maned by Chinese for the first few sailings then tied up dockside for the Thai tourist to gape at in wonder.Does anyone think that any pilot out side of ones from The UK or The US ever landed or took off in a fixed wing airplane from the Thai Aircraft Carrier ?

The American submarine came in to Phuket undetected by the Thai Navy !  Just thought they would show them what a real sub looks like. They should stay and give them a crash course (not literally, though it will probably happen !)  in submarine crewmanship.  Nobody in the Thai navy has ever been on a submarine, so how the hell are they going to run 3 of them ?  They will be left to rot alongside the aircraft carrier.

You can substantiate all your "facts," right?

I can not tell exactly what it is, but having worked at Electric Boat, which is one of America's submarine ship building firms, I can tell you it is not a boomer, i.e. Ohio Class sub.  At best it is an LA class or possibly Virginia class.  It does not seem to have as many extendible masts as the Virgina class ships do.  The USA would rarely exhibit an Ohio Class sub or take one off active duty just for show.  They really are part of the USA's nuclear strategic triad.
