Moving my son to new Tabien bahn

Featured Replies

I currently live alone with my son and have split with his mother some time ago.

My son is currently registered in my ex gf Tabien Baan in another province. We were not married but I have had myself legitimized as the legal father. Couple of questions really....

Soon I need to get him into school. I believe he would need to be in a local Tabien Baan to attend our local government school. Is this correct?

I am renting a property here. I'm guessing just showing them my lease papers won't cut it.

If i can get someone to register my son in their Tabien Baan here....can I move him to the new house book without exs permission?

I would have thought that too. 80% of Thai apparently are registered in a TB other than where they reside.

Went to a school yesterday and they were insisting on a local Tabien Baan. My gf seems to think in the country areas it's not important. But maybe in the city it is. We're in a city

Thanks for the replies. I'm talking free government school. I have him in a private nursery school now where I pay per month. That was no problem

My wife says that normally if you have custody of your son then you can change the address no problem, BUT, as with everything in Thailand it depends on the officer on the day. So it is probably worth trying if you have someone willing to put him on their bluebook, I think that is the only way you will find out for sure.
