Youngster arrested for using Facebook to organise road races

By The Nation

Police have arrested a young man in Nonthaburi province for allegedly using his Facebook page to organise road racing, deputy tourist police chief Pol Maj-General Surachet Hakpal said.

Surachet said Niran Chumsaeng, 20, was arrested early on Saturday under a warrant issued by the Minburi district court.

He was arrested at his house in Tambon Bang Yai in Bang Yai district.

Surachet said Niran is the administrator of a page with 1,000 followers. The page had been used to schedule racing by motorcyclists on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, Chaeng Wattana Road, Rama V Road and Ratanthibet Road from 1am to 3am several times, he said.

Niran claimed that he had stopped racing two months ago after getting a job as a night-shift security officer. He said the page had only old posts.
