A Som Tam seller has given himself up to police in Udon Thani after he was caught on video stabbing his wife's rival in a fight in a street in the village of Ban Dong Yuat.

In the fight Suphatra Ooiha, 19, was getting the better of Praew when the latter's husband joined the affray wielding a knife used to slice up papaya.

One swift blow to the left ribs punctured the young woman's lung. Medics soon at the scene took her to Soon Udon Thani hospital where she died.

Monkhol Sewtawong, 25, fled the scene of the attack on Sunday but gave himself up to police on Monday.

He was taken on a brief reenactment to the scene of the murder amid fears of a lynching from Suphatra's relatives.

He has admitted killing his wife's rival saying they had had a disagreement over a long period. He couldn't stand by when his wife was losing the fight, he said.

He went with his wife to the area to sell som tam at the Bun Bang Fai (rocket festival) parade in the town. The fight broke out when the parade was over.

omg, what an utterly cowardly and terrible thing to do, words fail me. I only hope that as a confession won't be required, he isn't allowed to.

A thread popped up on r/Thailand recently about Thai middle class keeping the lower classes down and preventing them from having democracy. I couldn't be bothered to engage, but it always surprises me when people assume that the lower class Thais are in any position to choose their own government.

Personally I think they've got a long way to go before they are responsible enough to do so. Once they stop believing in magic, raping their children and killing each other over trivial nonsense (and start letting ambulances past), they might be ready. As it is, they are far too selfish and short sighted.

Not even an attempt to separate the 2 bitches.
A cowardly murder instead.
Senseless bastard.
Eye for an eye - lifelong prison is too good for this thug.

we see this every dam week, its in their make up, in the western world the man would have just broken up the fight and pulled them apart, but, not here this shit for brains has to be a big boy and carry a knife and kill some one for no reason. hope he spends a long time in jail and when he gets out, gets a dose of street justice.

I've sen videos of guys kicking women in the head who were fighting their partner, and much more. It isn't just subject to the part of the world
