CHAINAT, 15th May 2018 (NNT) – A new bridge crossing the Chao Phraya River in Chainat province has been opened for a trial period of 45 days.

Deputy Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads (DRR) Prasak Bantunak has carried out the ninth and final inspection of the Chor and Kor roads in Muang Chainat district.

The 3.5 kilometer stretch of asphalt concrete roadway consists of four traffic lanes and a bridge crossing the Chao Phraya River. The inspection included a forum of members of the public, who pointed out some areas of the road and bridge requiring maintenance and that there were irregularities in its walkways and some portions of the traffic lanes.

The project’s contractor has assured the public it can address the matters brought up.

The roadway is now open for a 45 day trial, which is to apply until June 30. Any problems found during this time will be reported to the contractor.

The bridge is 574 meters in length and connects Highway No. 311 (Lopburi-Chainat) to Highway 3183 (Chainat-Wat Singha). It was submitted by its contractor after a 78 day delay after a part of the bridge collapsed in September last year, and the Provincial Electricity Authority had to reinstall and test electrical systems.

Don't be surprised if it falls down again or the road surface cracks up in two or three weeks.

Nine 'Official' inspections and it still took members of the Public to point out faults that should have been seen and rectified during and after aforesaid nine 'inspections'.  No doubt the 'Official' was too busy counting the contents of his brown envelopes to be 'Inspecting' anything else !
